I don't know if anyone else expericenced this or not but I was really bummed. I didn't find a horse to buy

at Nationals, I looked. But, a lot of the problem was when I was looking if I saw something I might be interested in I'd come back a couple of times but people didn't seem to be around so I gave up. I was hoping to get around to see a lot more but just didn't get the chance between showing and being stuck out in the lower fourty and having to walk a mile every where I condensed my walking around. I was just bummed, I was hoping to save on shipping and come home with a new baby. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'm SURE I made my husband happy.... LOL

I'm so sorry that you weren't able to find a horse to buy.

I buy horses to bring home from Nationals rather often, but I decide on them before I get there for the most part. Perhaps next year you can check out several different horses ahead of time and find out where they will be, etc, so you can narrow your search?

Also, those of you selling horses at nationals-- if you could list a cell phone number that you could be reached at, for when you aren't around your stalls, that would be helpful for potential buyers to contact you.

We went to Nationals with no intentions of buying any horses but when we got there we saw two that we had to have go home with us. We purchased a filly from McCarthy's Lakeside Stable's that is Michigan bred and we bought a Michigan bred colt from Taylors Pony Farm. They both have a upright and very long neck, with having tiny, hooky & very close together ears, small refined head and build in addition to having a high stepping trot to die for, so they will be a part of our showstring for 2009 being as well in the Futuritys.

The same thing happened while at Shetland Congress, we brought home a Michigan bred Modern colt from Taylors as well. I guess we will be pretty busy with going to the pony shows and miniature shows next year.

I did have a few horses checked out, but one was sold and the couple others didn't pan out and ONE dummy me forgot to write they're phone number down, before I left home and SHE gave it to me. But, the others, derr, I NEVER thought to ask for cell numbers before I left that would have been a great idea. I'll remember that for the future. Thanks for the tip. PLUS, next year I'm going to get my entry in earlier so I can get closer. I thought I had to have my gelding already qualifed w/ the paperwork from the show sent in so I didn't send it in. My gelding was a late qualifiyer due to being sick, so hopefully next year he'll be well and everyone will be EARLY. TJ

I can honestly say not being able to find a horse to purchase at Nationals has never been a problem for me in fact usually quite the opposite!

I wasn't looking for a horse at Nationals, didn't even take one to show. But I got lucky and found something incredible, at least to me it was, so I did get a new one at Nationals this year.

If you mean that by getting your entry in earlier will get you closer to the arena, that isn't likely to happen.

People tend to get pretty much the same spot as the year before, I think part of it is because it is easier to figure out the stall assignments that way year from year, and the more "recent" attendees end up getting stuck out in the far reaches. If you know anyone that you could stall with, kind of as a group, (who has stalls closer to the arena) you can send your entries in with them and get your stall assignment with them, thus be closer.

I hope I interpreted your post correctly; if not, then I apologize for being off topic!

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'm glad to know that. I'll have to see if I can stall w/ someone next year then, or just take my chances and request a couple of closer barns. No problem on the post otherwise I wouldn't have known that.

We have been in the same barn for the last three years, we are in the Super Duty Barn. Everybody usually is in the same locations year after year, as far as I know it doesn't go in accordance to when the entries are submitted for stall locations to be issued, same as the Ohio World Show, everybody is just about in the same area year after year.

Well I came home with 2 girls. :) I shopped ahead of time and picking up at Nationals was perfect. I live in Maine so shipping is very expensive and this saved me a whole lot. I looked around a lot and had a couple opportunities, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm thrilled with my new girls.

We were in Barn E and figure the arena is 1/4 mile away. Got a lot of exercise. But I was very pleased with our location because of the extra shelter. They had built an addition and though we were on the outside edge last year, this year we were protected from the elements on all 4 sides.

I try not to look while up there. My hubby would kill me!

Last year we took up two fillies to catch rides to their buyers. One went to Maine! We like to try to save buyers shipping that buy from us, by taking horses to Tulsa or Fort Worth. (Gas money always welcome!)

Then again, we've often in the past gone to those places to pick up horses we've bought! LOL!

Nationals and World are great in helping people connect for rides to save on shipping horses.

I hope you find what you're looking for next year!

I seen sale ads hanging up everywhere at Nationals...there was a board plastered with them right where you walk in the tack/office area...then a board inside the tack/office area..all of which had phone numbers and all other contact info on.

If i was shopping i wouldnt have had any problems findin anything

I absolutely wasn't looking, but still managed to find a filly to bring home! I had 2 boys there for sale, and did have my cell # on the sign and flyers. It was tough to be at the stall all the time due to showing and helping friends.

I had two there to sell also and had made arrangements to pick up my granddaughter's new gelding while there then with no intentions of looking at any more a mare snuck onto the trailer at the last minute--believe she was tired of the cold, wet Ohio weather--well Oklahoma is not much better.

I alway have my sale signs made with my cell phone number so that I can be reached if anyone is interested and calls I can make a made dash back to the stalls in fact did that once or twice.
