My mare is due in 3-4 weeks, and still no bag. She's had a few foals before, but I don't know exactly how many. This is the mare that I've posted about that I bought to get out of a bad situation. The owners told me she was in foal. She is about 36.5 - 37 inches, and the stallion is 33 inches. For a mare that is underweight, she has a fairly big belly. I'm not sure how minis pregress in pregnancy as she is my first. Now the poeple I bought her from aren't the most knowledgeable, so they could be off in their timing as far as when she is due.

I thought she may not be in foal, but they swore she is, and she has not been in heat since I got her about 6 weeks ago, despite being turned out with my QH stallion. That was only for a very short supervised time though, just for exercise in the arena.

I can feel the milk vein in front of the bag. Its very easy to feel. Do I have anything to worry about or could this just be a mare that bags up late?

I have a mare who is just about to go over her due date (she's had a few foals) and she's only started to bag up in the last three or four days. She still hasn't got a very big udder now, but her back end has dropped, she's pooping a lot and slowing right down.

Don't think it's anything to worry about

For what it's worth my mare who just foaled at day 345 didn't hardly have a bag to write home about but within about a half hour or so after foaling she had lots of milk..seems for us this year only one of the mares out of 7 did make a bag before the foal came l have no idea why that wasn't the norm for them..
