Hi. I was wondering what is the best looking color of halter for a minimal bay pinto. No white on the face. I was thinking of a black with gold piping or blue with silver piping? What do you think? Maybe those that have bays in a show halter can post pics of theirs?

Thanks,

Alisha

Just me but I would not do black on a bay head. I would do gold plus a color like green or blue or even burgandy as that will really pop on a bay

I like the blue on bays also. I have a royal blue show jacket that I plan on showing in. So you think gold piping would be better then silver?

Thanks,

Alisha

Hi

I use silver on a bay or silver/gold depending on their base color. Sometimes you just have to try them on to see what looks best. I always wait till I get to a show with vendors there and then try them on. Sometimes you will surprised at what looks good on them.

I have many halters..doing it this way

Just my own personal preference, but I like to see silver trim on a pinto. We have all pintos, but no bays, so I am afraid I can't offer a photo.

I always use gold on bays and sorrells and silver on blacks or black based horses (silver dapple etc)

This doesnt show up well but you can see the gold

I think burgundy with gold hardware looks really nice on bay horses

For me when deciding if the horse should have gold or silver hardware, I go with gold for warm tones and silver with cool tones

I read an article that said blue, purple, and green are good colors to use on any colored horse. They are considered the "safe" colors. As for hardware, I hate gold but I have used it on silver dapple and it looked awsome. Really made the silver dapple chisle the face up a bit.

Here are a couple of photos of bays with their show halters on.

This one is a solid bay (solid gold band)

This one is a pinto but does have some face white. (gold but very simplistic in it's design)

Both of those halters were picked by trainers.

This one is actually burgandy and I liked it on him but I dont' think I would like it on the other two bays as they are different "shade" of bay.

I think I do like the gold on the red horses. I have a show halter with gold hardware on the nose band. Is this style popular or should I get one with a pantent nose band (i think thats what they are called?) The only pic I have of the halter is on my pal. pinto mare.

I do realize the halter is not fitted properly on her head and looks stupid... didnt realize what it looked like till i seen the pic. LOL

This looks similar to the halter on Marlee's bay pinto, am I correct?

Oh BTW KayKay and Marlee your horses are gorgous!

I use either black and gold or black, burgany and gold on bays.

Here is Jazz Singer in a black and gold halter.

See thats what I was thinking in my original post but someone said no to black. On your bays the black with gold looks really nice.

I do not really like the bright out there colors (Matallic blues ext), i feel black/gold which is my choice for a bay of any sort pinto or solid looks the best or on a blood bay burgandy/gold.

I just feel it looks more professional then those crazy matallic colors.
