I had Mitzy at a sitter while I was in NY. WEll she picked up Kennel Cough while there. I was told to give her penicillen(sp?) by mouth for 10 days then cough medicine. My question is can I safely give it to her by mouth?
I used to have this on hand at all times when I raised dogs, as it had a long shelf life before it was mixed with the water. It was Amoxil...at least that was what I had, but it sounds the same as what you are referring to Chanda. It was easy to administer by mouth with a syringe. The only pencillin I've given by mouth, was the liquid I got from the vet that is specifically for oral administration (much like the liquid penicillin for little kids). [Matter of fact it was human grade oral penecillin; you get a little bottle of powder from the vet and reconstitute it with water. I got it for a barn cat with too many fight wounds, it worked well for him.]

Hey, that is something I should check into! I never thought of that for the horses. I'll have to ask! Thanks!Mona,
Would Amoxil be something to have on hand for the minis? Much like SMZ's? If it has a long shelf life before mixing with water, it sounds like a good one.
