I normally hang out on the mini or donkey forum, but now have a pony question!

I have a 2 month old colt, whose dam is a 37 inch mini-mare and sire is a 37.75 (!!!) Shetland stallion, who now has AMHR papers. The colt, who is super refined with legs that never end, is 29.5 inches at 2 months, and his legs are the same length as his Mom's. I am concerned about him out-growing his mini-papers. I was told I could register him as National Show Pony. How popular is that designation? Thanks! Wendy Steerman, Malta, IL

you never know as they can grow a lot and stop but that tall at 2 months hes probably going over. Heres some info on nspr

This is one of the newest pony divisons of

ASPC.

This division is a performance only divsion

for larger ponies for children to ride and

compete with.

National Show Ponies are required to have

one purebred Shetland parent or a parent

registered AMHR, and can measure up to

a full 14.2 hands at the wither. National

Show Pony division is for hunter riders,

western riders and driving are currently

being developed and integrated into ASPC

Shetland Pony shows. This is not a

breeding division but a performance

division for larger ponies

Thank you so much! I am trying to get information on the grand-parents height, but it might be a good thing to have him registered that way just in case! I really appreciate your help!
