Would love to hear back from some of the So. Cal. people as to whether or not they are clipping their horses right now.

I generally do not clip in the winter, but my little Cody has been sweating a lot the last few days. I decided to go ahead and clip his neck and chest.

What are others doing? Right now it's in the mid 80's.

I am so jealous! I'm in Nor Cal, but it hasn't been anywhere near that warm in a good month or two! It's not fair that you can clip now! I want to clip my babies, but there's no way I will until at least late March, and probably not until after that.

When I lived in So. California we never clipped until summer, but then I didn't do any showing either. I know what you mean though, I felt so bad for my girls, being sooo hairy in the heatwaves! Hope it cools down for you some!

I really don't think I'll be clipping horses. It still gets pretty darn cold at night and winter is a long way from over.

Two out of five are fully clipped, one is head and necked, the other two I am seriously considering a trace clip.

Our weather is nice enough that you can get away with a decent blanket on at night if you full clip... but traditionally this time of year I do a trace clip so they aren't as hot but I don't have to blanket them.

Appy and Buzz are fully clipped, most of the others are head, neck and belly clipped. Moon is scheduled for a full clip soon, I want to watch his color developing!

we only blanket the fully clipped ones, and on warmer nights (50+) we either use sheets or nothing at all.

Thank you! I think I'll go ahead and trace clip - really appreciate the feeback!

Well not there anymore but when I lived there i clipped always - I just think the winter weather there which is maybe down to 30 at night and not all that often... it is easier to keep them warm with a blanket then keep them cool with all that hair and even 70 degrees let alone the 80+ that can happen this time of year
