At this time I have no desire to buy a Kindle or electronic reading device. However, I have found some books I'd like to read, which are only available as ebooks. I assume that these are mostly self-published books. Is there a way that I could download the ebooks to my laptop instead of a Kindle?

Yes, you can get the kindle e-reader (app?) for your laptop or any compter, I think and it's free. I can't read that much on my computer so I never looked into it.

Thank you! I'll have to look into it. I thought I was asking a crazy question, but apparently it wasn't all that crazy after all.

I have been waiting months for some of the ebooks to be released in paperback, but it doesnt look like thats going to happen anytime soon. Great to know that I can still possibly read them in the future.

ebooks come in different formats, some need different applications installed to read. Depending on your operating system some can be read with Adobe reader but if the books you are talking about are kindle format you can go here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000426311

to install the reader on your computer. Not a strange question at all!

I am officially excited now! I would have done this a long time ago if I would have known it was possible.

I wonder if it would take up a lot of room on my laptop - I might have to control myself. Lol
