I agree, Myrna -- despite giggling at the term "driving horse," I'm not going to refer to "carting." It brings up an image of the old, bedraggled horse wearing a straw hat with holes cut for the ears. Besides, Mingus would be mortally offended.

I just stay on my toes, ready to laugh and explain what I mean when talking to those not in the know.

Every discipline or special interest has its own jargon that may sound silly to others. The word "gig" has quite different meanings in two of my worlds -- driving and music. Perhaps I should hitch my horse to a gig to get to my gig?
