As many of you know, the building of the barn has been a year in the making. The biggest reason is because I only have one day a week off work to work on the barn, and we are using all re-cycled materials.

Well, I ran out of roofing and was trying to find some. I have a couple of friends that are like a second set of parents to me and I was talking to them last week and was told that their old barn had collapsed and I was welcome to it if I wanted to take it apart.

My brother in law and I went over last Sunday to see if we could salvage enough tin to finish the roof of the barn and this friend gave me a pickup load of NEW tin! I now have enough tin to finish the barn and some extra. I got so excited about the tin that I forgot to load any lumber. Now I have to go get some lumber before we can put the sides on the barn but we can at least finish the roof and the north end.

My brother has decided that he is going to build a shop building in the horse pen so my brother in law suggested that we add another 20 feet to the barn so it will be in the way if he decides to build his shop. That will make my new barn 30x50 with 10 stalls!

My mom told me that she thought I should build the barn larger, the property belongs to my parents and my mom is tired of my brother trying to take over the entire farm. She said if he wanted to build a shop, he could build it behind his house instead of behind hers. She loves the horses and was the one that suggested that we build the barn behind her house. She also told my brother to move his farm machinery out of the pasture north of her house so we could fence it for the horses.

My brother isn't happy but I sure am!

Try three. :new_shocked: :new_shocked: :new_shocked:

I think you're way ahead of the game and doing great! Building a barn is a major undertaking so you should be so proud of yourself. As for your brother trying to take over, well, ain't moms' grand????? :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033:
