My uncle put up dog wire fence along the back of the mini's pasture to keep the coyotes out and the minis safe. Well, a dog managed to get through. I was just about to vacuum when I noticed Rocky stomping and kicking a small black dog in the corner of the fence. I went out and opened the gate to the dog yard and tried to call the scared yelping dog to me. Rocky pinned his ears and threatened the dog every time the dog moved. I yelled at Rocky to stop it and he lifted his head and looked at me. The dog took off past him and ran in the gate. Rocky trotted up to the gate looking for his pray. I think he was mad the dog got away.

I could not catch the dog and just let it chill out for a few minutes. I finally got to pet it and discovered a VERY tight collar and she was a she and very thin and very, very wet. I got some meat out of the fridge and coaxed her into a big dog crate. I got her collar off and loosened it up. I also attached a leash to it. After about an hour of hanging out with Loren and I, she was becoming very friendly. She is crate trained and knows sit and stay. So in the morning we are going to try and find her owners. She had no tags. We had a terrible thunder storm the other night and she was terrified I am sure.

I guess we don't have to worry about coyotes after all!!

Well, here is Stomper (her temporary name

The dog sure is cute. At least you know Rocky will try to protect himself from preditors.... I'm sure that the dog was just looking for something to eat and wondered into his paddock. It's a shame that such a nice looking dog doesn't have tags and was almost stomped, but that just shows that people need to watch their dogs closer! Here's to hoping you can find her owners!

Looks like Loren is very pleased with his "new" dog! If you don't find her owners, will you be able to keep her?

"Here's to hoping you can find her owners!"

I'm almost hoping she can't! Loren needed a dog anyway, right? I mean, I know the poor dog could have been lost for some time, lost some weight and the collar became too tight, but then the owners might also be irresponsible jerks who LET her roam, scavanging for her next meal with a too-tight collar on. I guess you'll soon find out if someone actually claims her... what a sweet face.

Good boy Rocky!!! But she is too adorable and look at Loren's face! Oh if it's possible it would be nice if she could be Loren's new best friend. Maybe she was sent to you to help Loren adjust, by a higher force?

Well, never mind about the crate trained part. That was just a fluke! She is now hard to get in the crate and barks a lot once in. Ho well.

My aunt has 4 dogs and we have 1 here now. I don't think we will be able to keep her if we can't find her owners. My aunt wants to, but our men don't. (Except Loren )

Oh - she is a cutie! How old do you think she is...she almost looks like a rotweiller mix, very pretty dog.

I'm with the others. She is very sweet looking,

: just the right size, and poor Loren did have to give up his Pete to move all the way across country.

I think Loren's vote is the only one that counts at this point.

My first thought was "Oh that little puppy has found her

: " I just hope your little guy doesn't fall too hard if you do find her owners - he is such a special little guy

When David (Asbergers Syndrome) still couldn't talk at four, no information on internet to be found, and all manner of therapy failed. Well, that still, small voice only mama's hear said, "Get him a dog". Sure enough, after 1-1/2 months of bring our 4 month old St Bernard, George, home.....Dave talked in PERFECT SENTENCES!

Just like your puppy, George was stuck in a tiny milk house with his mama and two siblings. Stinky, but it was fate which brought joy to both dog and boy! Hmmmm, sound familiar?

Well......here's the kicker......the uppity guy who lived in the "mansion" next door to our tiny abode, GAVE me the following, gentle advice  "If you're gonna have a dog for your son, make sure you keep him or it'll break his heart". He meant it!

Now, you be sure to show this thread to your husband and all the other "naysayers". Stick to your guns, for the sake of your son! In the long run, they'll come to understand your wisdom. Trust me!

I sure hope Loren gets to keep Stomper :bgrin With the problem of not wanting to go in the crate try this, take some treats that Stomper likes and throw one in the crate, let the dog go in and get the treat, but don't close the door, let her come right back out, then repeat, once she is going in and coming out add a command like bed, kennel or crate. Then and take your time about this, close the door and leave her there for a minute or two if she doesn't bark let her out and praise her. Don't ever use it for a punishment, it is meant to be a safe place. If you want to ask any questions you can pm me anytime, I train dogs and might be able to help you with her so the men will accept her.

She's a cutie!! I think if she were to crawl into the guys laps and hang with them they'd love her to pieces. I agree with everyone else no dog no food ( if you can't find her owners). Who knows even if you do maybe they will let Loren have her to love. I agree rottie mix maybe with a spaniel. She looks like she's still a puppy.

My four year old daughter was looking over my shoulder and said, "Mom, is that a picture of Shasta?" Our 3yo rescue dog who we assume, is a Rottweiler mix or pure Rott minus the white on her chest. I have a soft spot for those. She sure has a sweet face. Good luck! I'd be doomed just looking at that sweet face.
