Ok, so I've been keeping a pretty good visual record of Pete's changes over the past couple months. (That and Ale, lol.)

I'm of course, a very self aware person (I try to be), and this helps. I want to see a difference in my horses; good or bad. That way I can continue or change it. ;)

Well, the past week or so have been VERY well documented. Why? I switched over from Omelene 300 to Purina's new Miniature Horse & Pony feed. Pete, my yearling, seems to be taking to it well!

Before the Switch: (June 7th & 8th)

June 7th-

Feeding Switch Started June 9th.

After the Switch: (June 20th)

Can I just say, "Wow!"

Now, despite his faulty conformation, Pete is looking the absolute best he has this entire year!

Can we note the color?

-Um, in two weeks his color changed from a nasty faded black to DARK. That's a huge difference! LOL!

Can we note the physical differences?

-Wow. Before the switch he was a funky looking kid. He had a SKINNY neck, bony back and bony hips. I'm sure there's more. There has to be, lol.

After the switch? Wow. He has a neck now. (Maybe too much?! ) He has shoulders and not a shelf. He has fat on his back and hips now. Sure, I think the change to his back may have made his roach back look a little worse, but at least it isn't bony anymore, lol. He even has a nice shine to his coat.

Ok, I'll stop now but I'm gushing. :D

Wow good job. He certainly looks much better and the belly is disappearing. Talk about a big thumbs up to this new feed. I wonder since now we have started seeing pics of before and after since being on this new feed if we can start a pinned post and put pics up for everyone to see the effects of this new feed.

Send this info along to Purina Mills. The like to see results like this and would probably flip you a few coupons for s job well done! Very nice!

I'm very excited to see the effects of this feed on Pete! I bought a bag for my stallion (who is currently skinny, because the brat will not stop running fences). Here's hoping Hollywood improves as quickly as Pete did! Pictures is Hollywood before he ran all his weight off running fences (and running away from his girls! I'll be super happy to get a single foal from him next year).

That is impressive! How much are you feeding him per day? How much Omolene 300 were you feeding him.

ETA: I just did a side by side with the Omolene 300 tag and this feed has 3 times the fiber...interesting.

Isn't is great! I don't have before photos but I can see the difference in my boy since I changed his grain. My boy gets 1/2 cup 2 times a day. How much hay do you feed? My boy gets handfulls during the day and is on grass from 6 am until 8 pm. His grass paddock is connected to his dry lot and when he is tired of grazing he runs over in the heat of the day to be in his run-in next to his best bud. Someday I will get pics of my boy up here. I would like to get everyones opinion of what more I can do He still has a bit of a belly but that is still a work in progress

Wow, I totally agree with Marty about sending this into Purina as i am sure they would love it. this is just after a few weeks I can't wait to see him in a month.

Purina has a 60 day Challenge, you should sign up for it, get the coupons from that then keep your records for 60 days. Then send it all to Purina. Once you sign up for the challenge, you get coupons every three months, they can be printed out either 2 or 3 times. This past coupon was $5 off a bag of feed, every little bit helps.

You colt is really looking healthier. I think if you set him up a bit straighter he might not look so butt high. The first thing I saw though in the difference, is he no longer has the point at the top of his hip, he is more rounded. I think if his front end catches up with his rear end, he will be a pretty nice horse.

That would be a good idea! I could even help with the effects of the new feed on dwarves. I have three dwarves on it and they LOVE it.

I'm feeding him 1.5 lbs. 12 oz. in the morning and at night. Omelene 300 was the same.

That is interesting.

I am a member of the 60 Day Challenge.

Thanks for the tip! I'm hoping his shoulders will shoot up sometime in the next 2-3 years. It would be nice!

I can't even fathom the fact that he'll be TWO next year! Its crazy!

The three girls we got as weanlings or just shy of being a yearling were "high butt" looking during much of their yearling year. Then they evened out nicely : )
