I saw him at MiniV's when he was a few hours old and fell head over heels in love with him. He is my equine soul mate. I adore him. We're buddies. Ozy can do no wrong

Mine is my senior mare "Gold Dust" She is just the smartest horse that I've had the opportunity to work with and own! She has the funniest personality, she also is just the biggest sweatheart and cuddle bug! She just looks at me and I smile!
default_wub.png
2007 was my first year with her, and she has just blown me away!

Well, I am VERY fond of everybody I have now, but my 'favorite' and my love is the gelding in my avatar, my "Handy"(Jess Cowboys Top Hand)! In 1991, I jumped at the chance to purchase breedings to Landrys Cowboy Del for my dear and lovely moving mare, Sooner States Melody, and "Handy" was the first result!( I also have his full brother, two years younger, as we sadly lost another full sibling in between the two; "Roy"(Jess King of the Cowboys") is a VERY different horse than his brother-very talented in his own way, he is my (2nd)Roadster horse, and a superb and ground-covering mover-but he ISN'T another 'Handy'!) Not only is he lovely and VERY correct, conformation, temperment, AND movement-wise(which of course, is what I was breeding for!!)-he accepted training like a dream! 'Handy' and I have done EVERYTHING together; he is one of my two AMHA Champions, both of whom I trained ENTIRELY myself(-a source of great satisfaction and joy!) He was a stallion until age 6, and sired some VERY nice foals, but when I decided I really didn't care to breed anymore, I had him gelded(even though he was as tractable a stallion as you'd ever want around, I just didn't need a stallion anymore, period). He is actually an honest and true 34" Miniature horse! He has many wins at Halter, including a Supreme as a GELDING and in serious competition--and he has been a willing partner and multiple winner in everything from Showmanship to Hunter to Driving(Country and Obstacle) and Halter Obstacle. Most of all, though, he is the SWEETEST, KINDEST fellow...marches right up EVERY time I show up to give me warm blowing 'kisses' in my face! He LOVES to 'sneak' into the barn; if I leave the sliding stall door 'cracked' in the slightest, he will 'work' on it until he can squeeze through, then make a beeline for the alfalfa--then has this innocent look as I put my hand over his neck and take him back out!

He is my 'take him, he's the solid and absolutely dependable one' for any and every occasion...yet when they are turned out, he's the one who likes the most to 'fly around' at a big gallop! He gets along with ANYBODY and EVERYBODY, making him even more of a joy to have around. He is 15 years old this year; we have spent all of that time together(though I did lease him to a dear friend for just under a year, where he won a good deal for them, too)-and I hope I will have another 15 years or more, with him. He is an absolute JOY to have around in EVERY way; I love him as if he were another of my children!!

(And if it turns out they CAN read...well, here's to YOU, HANDY MAN!! :love

Your SockIT's mind -- I think part of that is BTU / Bandito

Bacardi, my "favorite", is a BTU son but my VERY close runner up is my Bandito son, DunIT, who is of course a paternal brother to your SockIT

I love, love, love all my minis, but if I would have to pick---my 'heartthrob' is Saturn. Saturn is one of my first horses and he is more than a horse. Our bond is tight. Let me explain.... Several years ago I was going through some rough medical issues and was quite unstable on my feet. One day I was standing in the middle of our 10 acre pasture and fell over- actually one of the mares barely bumped into me and I fell. Now Saturn, who was all the way across the pasture, saw me fall. He immediately went into action- tore straight toward me (and I was hoping he would stop!), stopped right in front of me, he put his head down so I could take ahold of his halter and then he slowly backed up, gently helping me back to me feet. As soon as I was up, he chased away the other horses then stood at my feet for about 15 min until I was able to walk back to the house. Saturn and I had practiced 'Help, help' from time to time, but this time around he knew it was the real thing and came to my aid all on his own. Also, to this day, Saturn opens doors/gates for me, like a gentleman should
default_yes.gif
He has also put himself into a protection mode of the little ones on the farm- putting himself between them and other horses.

My Saturn has such a caring and protective instinct.

Love those kisses he gives me at night, too

How can i pick only one!

The one i love and enjoy most, im sure you all think i would say Coco, but i also jumped on the BTU Bandwagon. My BTU Grandson is the one i enjoy most as he does truly carry that Golden BTU heart. Narko is by Boones Little BTU Crown Prince, a BTU son. He is also a Great Grandson of BTU, so yes ..he is double BTU Bred ...twice the heart

I can't do it, I can't decide between my two gelding half-brothers, for the same and different reasons.

Then there's Lailah, the mare I bred for for three years before she arrived, from two buckskin parents, she was black as could be. I just love to look at her, and enjoy her princess complex as well as her attitude.

So, Mouse gets the crown just because of the three, he knows how to drive and he and I have a lot of fun together!

What a great topic...very tough too! I think for me it would have to be Little Americas Soshowme Buckeroo...I'm VERY bonded with her and she has me wrapped around her little hoof...she has quite the little tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants...although I've heard this is just when I'm around...she's an angel for everyone else :DOH! So she definitely is a spoiled brat...but she's my spoiled brat and she really does do everything I ask of her and she loves to just hang out at shows with me (well...at home too for that matter)...she just expects to be treated like a little princess (my doing I know
default_wink.png
)...but I just LOVE LOVE LOVE her and can't imagine not having her around. So here is Cat...

Well, lets see. Missy is my pocket baby and spoiled rotten. She can tell you witch hand the treat is in. Then Dusty is Clown Number One. He is so funny. When he was smaller he wanted to sit on your lap all the time. Then there is Princess our driving mare. Totally bomb proof. Backhoes, Buses, semi-trucks and even the occational bozo that has to honk can go past her on a busy road and she doesn't even flinch. so, To pick a most favorite is hard. They are all great in there own way. Oh, and our new mare we have not met yet. I don't know about where she is going to fit in. But, we plan to drive her. Her original owner and breeder says she thinks she will do great at driving.

Just can't pick just one. This is the reason that I won't be buying anymore any time soon as I want to keep all the 9 miniatures and 2 QH's that we have. We have two small children with the future we need to keep it small. I know my husband would love to make it even more simplified with less horses, but I can't even imagine any of them not being here. Not even the three newest members who have only been here a few months.

I love:

Merri- My very first miniature mare. She is 21 almost 22 years old. Palomino mare. The kindest most gentle soul. She will allow anyone to groom her no matter what their size.

Mister- Her first foal with us(not her first foal). Smokey black gelding. He's 8 and is also, very sweet. Doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

KC- Merri's second and final foal with us. Buckskin gelding. He's a future driving prospect. I believe he could move with the best of them.

Frankie- My love bug. He loves to give hugs. 8 year old Black/white pinto gelding. He and I have an understanding. When we lost Major(the one horse that I could do anything with-- boy do I miss him) it was though Frankie understood. I came home and went in the see Frankie(he was Major's buddy). I put my arms around him and told him Major was gone..... Frankie put his leg up over mine as I was kneeling beside him. Talk about losing it. Then I put my forehead on his. He made a grunting noise and has done that and hugs ever since. He had never done that before that day. He's flighty with anyone else, but not with me.

Cole- 3 year old silver dapple/bald face/socks, gelding. I have two horses that want my attention at all times. Cole is one of them. It doesn't matter where I am he is going to keep his eye out for me. When in the paddock he will not leave my side.

Topper- yearling chestnut sabino, gelding. Cole's 1/2 brother is the other one who wants attention all the time. Even to the point of untieing my shoes.

Bailey- weanling BTU grandson- bay colt(soon to be gelded).... .so pretty, bright red bay. He's getting used to us. Still won't let my poor husband catch him at night. I have to go out and he will walk right to me. Drives my hubby crazy. LOL Bailey is very into me. I see huge things from him. Sometimes he starts reminding me of Major. He's the same color and the same size. There will never be another Major, but Bailey can make his mark in other ways.
default_smile.png

Denni- weanling blue(black) roan colt(also, soon to be gelded). What can I say? This is my dream miniature horse. He's exactly what I was looking for including temperment. I just got him a few months ago. He fits right in. Lets my son run his toys all around him(while I'm trying to turn him out---) He's going to make a really great youth horse pretty early.

Buddy- 8 year old black/white driving gelding. Connie Ballard knew I was wanting a driving gelding bad! She was kind enough to allow me to purchase Buddy. He's a funny boy. He's fitting in nicely now, but my gang sure gave him the what for when he first came. Buddy's the biggest miniature I have and you would think he was the smallest the way he steered clear of all of my crew. Now he's one of the two horses that I call the resident smoozers.... He and Topper for some reason just go around and have a chat with every horse here. They are pretty entertaining watching them go from horse to horse. I haven't had a chance to drive him yet, but I can't wait too. I work with him on doing some trail in hand and he's pretty responsive. I see big things from him.

Surprise- I've had her the longest. 18 year old QH mare. Sorrel/flaxen mane and tail. This girl was a bit of a handful in her early years(I've known her since she was 2. Owned her since she was 6). She was what I call a divorce horse(trainer I bought her from owner her and was going through a divorce. Her papers were in legal limbo when I bought her). She didn't get ridden much. I bought her and started working with her. She ended up winning grand and reserve champions in hunter(even beat my trainer) and western pleasure. She's only 15.1 hands.

Moxie- 2 year old QH gelding. sorrel. I've dreamed of owning his bloodlines. Everyday I watch him move I just sit in awe. Someday I will ride him and it will be a dream come true. He came to me at 14 hands and is now 16 hands.

I know.. lots of info. My husband has gotten job offers for CO and TX recently. We talked about if we went who would we sell. I just can't do it. I can't let any of them go. That makes me say each and everyone is my favorite for different reasons. I love and enjoy each and everyone of them.

Not a mini but my very first horse. Shes taken care of me for thirty years. Shes 36 this year. Shes taught me all the important things in life.

Bugs Scat aka Drama.

For most people im sure this is hard for yall to decide. Not for me. My favorite horse i own is Triple C's Mikey's Little Harley Moon. AKA Harley Moon. He is a 3 yr old appy gelding and he is my do everything horse. I love him more than life itsself and would do anything for him. I have trained him for everything he knows. He can be insanely stubburn and doesnt like much attention. but he shows me he loves me in different ways. For Example everytime i take a step out my back door a here than small whinny coming from our pasture and there he is waiting for me excitedly. He is only 29 inches but he can jump and drive with the best of them. He always waits by the gate for me to take him out and gives his all when we play / work. and stands perfectly still in halter classes. listens to my every cue in driving and jumps his little heart out for me in hunter and jumper. I think he is the most wonderful friend, companion and horse in the world. He is my soulmate in all ways. I love my harley moon!

I love all my horses very much, this is a hard decision, I think my little stallion Houdini is my funniest mini, he is so cute and loves to jump, I can't register him, only in wcmhr, but he is so much fun to watch, Hes going to be gelded this spring. Of my mares I have 2 that are at the top, my Blondie and Miss Areilla, Their both so friendly, Than I have my little filly AHR Shimmering Rose who Blondie had this last year, she is going on 7 months old, she is with her half brother Mystic Golden Blue Eyes and they love to play together, their sire is Donna's (QTR) White Gold. I can't forget my main stallion MVM Ragtime cowboy, he is so gentle, have 3 mares bred to him this next spring. Than my very first mini I got is A-B Apachees Dun In Diamonds, he will always be here, I could go on and on because they are all wonderful horses.

Easy, hands down it's Sassy my wonder mare.

She's 14.2 hands of backyard goodness and I love her more then I could even begin to tell anyone. (Which apparently can be offensive to some, huh, who knew!?)

She's my world and my rock and my safe place. She picks if boyfirends get to stay and which kid needs the most hugs.

I love her and would happily live in a card board box on the side of the road to keep her happy and safe.

Here's a pic taken last sunday of us, please pardon the clevage.

And one more of her doing her fav thing, hanging with a kid from this past summer

IMG_1423.jpg

She's 18 years young this coming Jan, and I hope for My kids to learn on her!

My Favorite Mini however is Neo. He's my underdog that just keeps going. I'll be breaking him to drive soon, and am excited by the whole new world avaliable to us. In the mean time, he's been Kara's show pony, and since she's now sadly out grown him, he'll go back to being a demo pony for grooming.

Here he is winning it all at one of our horse show's.

The most "Special" horse i have ever had in my life was my Gracie..

I cant post pictures of he because she is no longer mine (long story) but some of you may remember her.

I got her when she was 10 months old, never handled.Terrified of people. For weeks, she would see someone and run..I gained her trust and worked with her every day. And in the process of turning her into a show horse, I fell in love with her completely.

Of course I love all my horses but we just had 'something' special. She was my "IT'' horse.

We won National Supreme Champion in march this year (just before he owner took her back) and It was the most amazing moment of my life so far, I love that horse so much, will never forget her and in my heart she will always be mine.

I would have to say that my "special" horse would have to be "Roxy" - Country Acres Pickin Wild Flowers. I bought her at 6 months old as a Christmas present for my Granddad because he had always wanted a Strawberry roan. Well after I got her home, she instantly became mine! She was the only miniature in a barn full of Draft horses, where I was keeping her at! Even though I haven't shown at any of the big registration shows, I have shown her at all the local shows since I've had her and she has won me many ribbons. She took Year-end Reserve Grand Champion Yearling at the local show her yearling year. And this year she was name the Huntingdon Country Fair Grand Champion Miniature Mare, for halter, at only 2 years old. I have done all the training on her with only a little help from my horsey friends. I started breaking her to drive this fall to be able to show next spring. She also does obstacle trail and jumping. She is the love of my life and tries so hard to please me. She's taught me that even if we don't place first, that it's okay because we tried our best and that we need to work on things in order to do better.

Summer 2007, practicing before our halter class.

This is really an easy decision, although it doesn't seem fair to the rest of them...My favorite of mine would be CRF Aint She A Dream. Dreamer pictured in avatar. She was the first foal born on my place when I got into minis. I was so excited and the color was exactly what I wanted. Thus the name! I had her for sale, but changed my mind after I started showing her. At a year old, a little 4 year old girl showed her and Dreamer worked like a champ. She was showing in obstacle as a yearling and has always tried her best whenever I introduce her to anything new. We do have our moments when she thinks things need to be done her way instead of mine, but that's just part of her charm. She is in training right now for cart, and seems to take whatever is thrown her way. Hopefully she will also be jumping this next show season. She is truly my girl!

Val in my avatar. He was a totally wild 5 yo stallion when I got him who didn't know how to lead or tie or nuttin. He still doesn't trust anyone but me and he is totally my horse. I have trained him and we have come to a mutual respect and know each other and he has had a spectacular show career. He got to take this year off from showing but will go out in the spring again and end his show career at the 2008 Pinto World Show.

Oh its hard to choose!

I just sold my gelding, Magic Mans Challenger, but if I still owned him, he would be my favourite of mine (and he still is!).

But out of the ones I own right now, I would have to say my favourite is my weanling colt, Donovan. I co-own him, with Desiree Wallace. He is one smart boy, and he is so willing to please. I can tell he will be one fun boy to show, and I cannot wait to see his babies one day! Here he is: Mini Brooks Painted Donovan Sky
