This is all from Amy:and i will answer to the way that i feel about this:
1) You said Legal Matters right Amy?
Journal staff is not involved in any of these matters. I am not privvy to any of the dealings. My only relation to this is dealing with changes/info as it is handed down to me. Once that it given to me, I can only do the work from there. I have no need to say more.
2) and FYI to you Amy the journal is all ways
late.
Since October 2007 when the new schedule went into effect ... after being passed by the national board and promoted that it was coming for nearly one year .... every issue HAS mailed early, on its scheduled date or only a day or two behind. The only exception is the Dec/Jan book. Issues mail periodicals postage. I've explained what that means and how long a book mailed that way could take to reach readers so often there is no need to repeat it. You are welcome to check into those rules yourself. If you want something different, we can easily look into raising subcription costs to cover a faster, but costlier, method of delivery.
Also ... please be advised .... when one publication mails has NO relationship to when another publication mails. Each publication sets its own schedule. The mail date, the number of issues in a year, the size, the name, etc., of The Journal have changed MULTIPLE times since 1948. It is any publisher's perogative to make those changes. Memberships do not now, nor have they ever, included a guarantee of when each individual person can expect to receive a publication. If the service rendered is no longer a workable fit for some, there is always the opportunity for each person to pursue other relationships or to drop affiliations. Those are personal decisions. Members have been making them with this particular association for 120 years and for this particular publication for 60 years.
When I called about the journal they did say some of the reason that it was late was due from the fact that you was in a wreck. so why would the AMHR say that Amy? can you please answer that. WE as members of the AMHR have the right to have the answers. But like you said from all the Legal Issue it had to be re-printed come on.
At NO TIME DID I SAY ANYTHING had to be reprinted.
The individual who answers the phone at ASPC was unaware of the matters at hand until I called her in mid-January. At that time, she apologized to me and took notes on the appropriate reason the issue was late so she could provide that info. Office staff may not be an authority on work that takes place outside of that office or that is handled by another employee. Main Journal staff is not involved with day-to-day operations at the main office. It would be remiss for me to tell you why your registration papers might have been delayed if I did not check the real facts.
I have now explained multiple times why this issue is late. There is no need to belabor that point. If anyone chooses to believe something different, that is their perogative. Facts are, however, facts. Someone's beliefs do not change those.
After 14 years & 80 publications on this job, an affiliation that goes back 25 years beyond that and an educational & work background that relates, I am confident that I am aware of the technical matters and work needed to produce this particular publication.
In closing, again ... this will be my last post. However, I will caution this ... to date on these posts, no one has all the facts ... no matter how many times they assure you they do. The matters in question are not limited to any one individual. To convey anything different might be constued as either libelous or slanderous depending on the context.
