Okay Parents -- How have you or would you handle it????

Santa Claus -- The Tooth Fairy -- The Easter Bunny

Brianna FINALLY asked POINT BLANK. I told Larry that when she asked, I would tell her the truth. I believe in being honest and straight forward and I told her that too.

So, today she asked, "Are you and Dad the tooth fairy?" She followed up asking the same thing with all the others......

I said, "Yes" But I told her that with Santa Claus there was a basis of truth behind him and with all magic or fairy tales, there's always a real story or something behind them. So, we are looking up on the internet everything we can find about various "magical" characters.

She seems to be taking it well......but how do other parents handle it????

I am ready with web sites etc. But no one has asked yet LOL How old is she?? 2 years ago someone hinted at it but I wasn't ready to let go so I looked up info on Santa and that appeased him

I don't look forward to it being gone because our boys are so close in age once one knows all will know

Well here is my stock answer...they are real if you believe in them......since I still believe in majik of all sorts I tell them to ignore the kids who say it isn't real.......

It's all real as long as you believe. Polar Express! We've watched it a gazillion times and I still love it. I believe...

My boys know, but they are teenagers! Kayla is three and we all enjoy the wonderful magic of childhood!

Awww that sad day has come. I told mine if you don't believe then there will be no more presents from Santa. They are all in their 30s or pushing it and if you ask them if they believe in Santa to this day they say you betcha

well, i'm sure my parents had a plan, but i found out at school form "all the other kids" however i was the last one of my class to "stop believeing"........because i still still believe :bgrin well i may not believe the fariy, or the guy in the big red suit, but i sure do believe the magic, i would hate not to be able to belive magic, no magic no more imagination, and where would i be with out that?

In my house I don't care much for the Easter Bunny, or the tooth fairy but there will always be a real Santa Claus.

I believe! :aktion033:

Oh my!!! That means I've only got 2 more years with my daughter before she asks. I belive and there for my kids do.

My daughter will be 8 in February. So far she hasnt asked any questions. I didnt stop believing in Santa until I was in 4th grade and I was also the last one in my class to stop believing. I dont know what I will say when Renee starts asking me q's. Hopefully I will have another year or two to come up with that answer.

MA,

When it was my son's time.....

First is was Santa.

Santa is very busy and has enlisted parents everywhere to make sure children recieve gifts.

Same deal with the others.

He is old enough now,, he winks at his father... saying Mom believes in these things...so we can't let on we know.

Is really cute.

I believe in Magic!! And the rest of the family humors me. :bgrin

Oh! TRUST ME! If you guys know me at all.....you KNOW I believe in *Magic* !!!!!

I don't have any input as to how other parents handle it, but I remember when my little sister, Robin, was told the truth about Santa (I think she was the last in her class at school to know!), then come Easter, she still believed in the Easter Bunny -- which just typifies my sister

We have three kidlets, and they are almost five years apart, so it's difficult to deal with some questions. When our older guy, asked for like the fifth year in a row about Santa, I sat them all down, to explain to them.

I told them, that it's just a mystery to me too, but that sometimes wonderful things happen, like money, presents, candy, ... other things like that. I said, "but you know what? I said when I was a kid, and I asked my Mom the same question and told her I didn't believe anymore, all I got for Christmas was underwear and sock!" I said, I didn't know who was in charge of such things, but I knew I got the message that Christmas... when all I got was underwear.

Our ten year old doubting Thomas son, jumped up like a preacher yelling, "Lord, I believe! I believe!" Our seven year old (very bright daughter) came over gave me a hug and said, "I'm glad we have that straighted out.", followed by our tiny little six year old who said, "Mom, I'm gonna believe Forever! I don't want underwear for Christmas." :bgrin

I don't think we have to worry about any such conversations again.

Awww MA!!! That's so sad! My three girls still believe, they are 11, 9 and 4. The 9 year old didn't at the beginning of Christmas because of all the things her friend had told her (and about the tooth fairy). Well, Christmas Eve, I think she decided to go with her heart rather than her friends words. She wrote a note to Santa and apologized for not believing.

: Asking for forgiveness too! Was soooooo sweet! I felt so bad for her because I know she just knew she wasn't going to get a gift from Santa because she'd stopped believing for a short while.

Needless to say, she was soooooo thrilled Christmas morning. My oldest figured out a couple years ago that I am Santa's helper. She told me she knew that Santa doesn't possibly have time to get all over the world in one night anymore because there are millions more kids now than when he first started. SO, he sends gifts to a lot of the parents ahead of time and they place them under the tree for him. :bgrin Smart girl I have!

I, too, gave the speech about when I told that I didn't believe, I no longer got gifts. Why would Santa waste his time giving gifts to non-believers? :bgrin

Santa is in our hearts...
