Not anticipating any troubles at all, but some of you remember how it was when Winston got neutured this past summer! That was really a scary time w/ discovering he had bladder stones and a urinary blockage.

Anyway, my blue girl, Kelsey, is at her vets' now to get spayed! I can call around 2:30 to see how she's doing and she will come home probably late afternoon. She's going to have some pain medicine to take. AND, she's supposed to stay inside and quiet for seven (7) days... That ought to be good! I'm thinking about like my dad said when one of their dogs got neutured -- if we can catch him, we'll keep him quiet. Kelsey is a very active dog and she spends 95% of the daytime in our fenced back yard (about an acre) playing with Maggie.

Maggie is wearing her mighty sad face right now. Either missing Kelsey, or sad because Kelsey got to go in the car with Daddy this morning.

Jill, What a beautiful face. Kelsey is the name of my grand daughter but they wanted to be different and spell it with 2 L's. Positive thoughts coming your way, Kathy

Thanks, Kathy!!!

The vet actually just called a little bit ago. Made my heart JUMP when I saw who it was on caller-id since we didn't expect to hear from them at all until we called. But, she's doing well and recovering. Should be able to come on home anytime after 2pm!

And, I noticed your grand daughter and my collie have the same name, just spelled differently, but I didn't point it out since some people wouldn't appreciate "oh, I love that name! I named my dog Kelsey, too." But, then, the dogs are my four legged kids!

And, again, your grand daughter is so beautiful!

She's such a pretty thing it's almost a shame to spay her. That said she will know herself what she is comfortable doing and dogs most of the times don't over do. So don't worry so much. Spaying is not such a big deal anymore. My best thoughts are with you both.

Hey Jilly! I bet you can't keep your eyes off the clock today. I'd be just like you wanting to hurry up and bring her back home. I'm sure you are planning to spoil her terribly.

How are you going to keep Kelsey quiet around the holidays?

Boy every time I am supposed to keep Tracey quiet, she seems to get more and more full over herself. I'd love to know your plan for that one and how it works out.

Oh, what a very pretty sad face. Glad to hear she made it thru the surgery fine, it is always good to get that phone call that everything is ok. Makes you breathe a little easier.

We are working up the nerve to get my daughters little pug "Bunny" spayed. We found out the first time she came in season that she is a hermaphrodite. She is mostly female in every way except for this very small male part of the anatomy that is in the vaginal area. You can only really see it when she is in season. But for this reason we are hesitant to have her neutored. Our vet mentioned she didn't know if this male part had anything to do with the urinary goings on or not. I know they do not mess with that area while neutoring but it could be connected in some way. Our vet is doing some research and is to get back to us soon. Bunny just turned 3 the beginning of December, we waited until she matured some since she is such an active and jumpy dog. I am beginning to lean to the "let's wait until a problem comes up" before we do anything. My daughter (and my husband and I) is wild about this little dog. If anything were to happen to her.......life would not be good.

I'm glad everything is gooing good for your little baby girl....I DO know how it feels to have her away from home and wanting her back and all done with. The first night Lakota spent after her operation she was very sore....she was whining and I did end up sleeping with her and rubbing and massaging her sore little body most of the night, which made her sleep more and deeper, which was good. But low and behold come 5:00 in the morning, she was up with the chickens and birght eyed and bushy tailed as if nothing had ever happened!

I'll bet Kelsey will be that way too.

I'm sure everything is going to be fine. Having just gone through it, though, with my two dogs, I know how worried you are. I was told to keep my dogs quiet for a week and it sure was hard. I kept them resting the first day and quiet the second day but after that they wanted to get back to playing. I was surprised that my female was as active as my male..A little surgery sure didn't slow her down. Good luck with your little girl when she comes home.

Thanks everyone!

She's home and she's doing okay. She seems pretty woozy from the meds and seems sore but she is laying on the floor beside my side of the bed (which is her spot). I'm on the bed on the laptop and she seems to be going to sleep.

The vet thought she is beautiful, Harvey said. Although, I doubt they ever tell you "man, I think that's the ugliest pooch I've seen in awhile." Still, I love to hear what has been said about my big baby.
