I'm going on Wednesday. Anyone else going?

I'm going tomorrow with my son and Thursday for the dressage. I just love the Royal.

Gotta get some of those Rosti potatoes! Yum!!

*sigh* the Royal has lost the "WOW" factor for me. Not sure why, but I just don't get into the Royal excitement anymore.....didn't even remember it was on until I saw this post.

but ohhhh, those potato Rostis!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmm they are definitely the highlight of the Royal!!!

I ate them everyday when I was working a booth there one year!!!!

I agree, Kathryn, but I know why it's lost the "wow" for me. I went on Saturday for the first time in about 8 years. Even then, the main entrance of the Coliseum was already glassed in and the trade centre was out front there, which I didn't like. So many things have changed since I was there but, as crazy as it sounds, the thing I missed the most was the SMELL of the place. We were in the Horse Palace all morning watching the Belgian line classes, at the Royal horse show in the afternoon, then wandering around through the vendors in the evening.... and there was nothing. No horsey smell lingering in my clothes the next day... And everything was SOOOOOO expensive. We did enjoy it all very much, in spite of all the changes.

The royal is doing a Live video feed this year http://www.royalfair.org/watch_live.php
It's 3:10pm and the RCMP Musical Ride is going to start in about 10 or 15 mins. for those that are interested.
Thanks Matt. Like I need one more reason to sit in front of my PC all day.

I have had the show running on my PC for the last day and a half and find myself watching way to much. Thanks again.

Wave at the camera when you go tomorrow.

The "Indoor Eventing" is on right now. It's an event they introduced last year. It's a very short, indoor cross country course. Interesting.

Thanks for the reminder about the live feed, Matt!

I wasn't able to get on it last night, maybe because it was "overloaded" or something. I did get on this morning, though, and just happened to see the amateur Hackney Pony class, and our own Willowood (Kim Macleod) placed 4th out of about eight, I think. I didn't realize she was in the class until I heard her name called, but what a nice surprise for me!

I was able to get on tonight, but the feed was very sporadic (or whatever the technical term is) which made it hard to watch. I saw the Hackneys, part of the indoor eventing, and part of the Coaching which I absolutely love! What a treat to be able to watch it from home!!

No kidding LOL........fun watching though. Just caught a little of the jumping tonight, my hearts always in my throat until they are over it.

Did anyone see the last class? A class of four horses in the ring doing a drill in the dark with lights on. The lights were on above the hoofs, head, mane, and tail. It was beautiful.

Must have been a Quadrille, part of Dressage night....sorry I missed that and I wonder who did it.

I went on Sunday. Very nice they had the Clydesdales showing HUGE stallions!! Boy oh boy. Some of the jumpers were there but I did miss seeing them jump. Next year!! Have fun everyone!! Thanks for posting this to!!

Got back late last night from the Royal. Kev, mom, and I went (a yearly tradition for my mom and I). Did some shopping and wandered around. Saw some oooollllld friends and familiar faces exercising horses (Jill Henselwood and Beth Underhill). Gosh the horses these days are gorgeous. When I stopped competing it was mainly thoroughbreds in the hunter ring and quite a few still in the jumpers too. I'll bet there were no Thoroughbred jumpers and probably no hunters there either. Kinda sad. If you have a good Thoroughbred, you've got the best horse in the world IMHO. Plus, a lot of these warmbloods have been refined with tons of Thoroughbred blood over the last few years. Anyhoo, I digress

I can't get over the school kids there. Crazy! We went to look at some day old piglets nursing off of mom and some school kids spotted them. I swear we were almost trampled

It was nice when, after 2 or 3, they cleared out lol.

Mom and I watched the CET Medal finals. That was fun. We also watched some kids from C.A.R.D. (riding for the disabled) do a cute little musical ride. But we couldn't stay for the big show at night as we had to leave at 5 (had to drive the sweets to the airport and then come home). All-in-all a fun day.

P.S. Did you see me waving, Neil? LOL
