We went out for supper tonight. I so love broasted chicken that a local restaurant makes. I absolutely love it! Or at least DID love it! I ordered a three piece so I could let Ron try their chicken. When they brought my food out I ate a thigh and had eaten most of my fries. Ron picked up my chicken leg to eat. There was a pool of blood under the leg running under my fries! :new_shocked: We cut the leg up to see how the meat was and it was cooked all the way through. The other piece that was left was cooked through. The blood had to be on my plate when they put my food on there! ICK ICK ICK! First they offered to put my meal on a clean plate! :new_shocked: UH, NO THANK YOU! So they brought the young man out that put it all together. "Do you want me to put it back in the cooker?" UGH! :smileypuke:

Thats sick ! ! !

My story I don't think is quite as bad but sure stopped us from eating at that restaurant.

We went to a favorite mexican restaurant and ordered but when the food came the waiter put mine down in front of me and before I could touch it he picked it up and took it to another table. After that customer started eating it, he went back and took it from her and put it back in front of me. That really grossed me out. Giving me food someone else was already eating. I told him to take it back and fix me a new plate, he did and it took them over 30 minutes at which time my husband and daughter had already finished eating their meals. We never went back.

When our kids were young we all went out to dinner my daughter ordered spaghetti, she had eaten about half of it, she said Mom there is a bug in my food I told her no there's not she took her spoon and pick up what she said was a bug. When I looked it was a cockroach. I told the waitress and she wanted to know if she wanted something else. Daughter told her no. gross.

Nope sorry, I got you all beat!!!

While growing up, My Mother and I always went out to lunch on Sundays with my Grandparents and Great Aunt.

My Aunt always paid for the meal for everyone. She was a funny old lady. Left really big tips, even if the service sucked, never complained about anything, even if something was wrong with the food.

We usually went to Marie Callender's.

Well one time when we went, I was 15 I think, I ordered the Salmon.........I love Grilled Salmon!!!

Well when it came to the table it was definitely fishy smelling. When I tasted it I knew something was wrong. Made my Mom taste it......It was most definitely rancid!

My Aunt being my Aunt there was no way I could have complained, and no way I could have just not eaten my food. So I ate half of the rancid salmon.

I didn't get sick, but I've never been able to eat salmon since, and I have tried..........just the smell makes me

Yak gag gross,

not to make you feel any worse but did the person that served you have any bad cuts on her/his hand? Or anyone else in the kitchen? In other words are you sure it was chicken blood? You did say all the parts were cooked all the way right?

Ew ew ew...

welllll....my Dad and his buddy that worked together for the scale company (they worked repairing scales in the NW and certifying them which required lots of travel) may have y' ALL beat:

They were travelling from Portland to a town across the river here called Naselle (or thereabouts it was a logging place where they weigh the trucks). In order to get there, they had to drive their car onto a ferry to cross the Columbia River from Astoria to Megler, WA. Before they did that, they ordered hamburgers at a local eatery (very near the Goonie House). Of course this was back in the early 60's before the Astoria-Megler bridge was completed.

The girl behind the counter was giving them a bit of attitude and alternating flirting with them. They sort of gave her the cold shoulder b/c she was umm..."skanky" in her acting and they were both married.

The guys got their order then went back to their car, intending to eat when they got on the ferry. After they got onto the ferry and opened the sack, they got out their hamburgers and there was ummm...crinkly/kinky dark hair on each burger where the lettuce might go. Not hair from someone's head let's say.

Talk about barf. They were trapped, they could not go back and complain at that point....so they tossed their lunch (they had ceased to be hungry) but to this day, noone from our family eats there even though the place has changed hands twice since then. *LOL*

Ugh, Fran, that is just disgusting. (Liz, so is your story. Ick.) Did they waive the charge for your meal?

I hear too many stories like these...for some odd reason I'm not real keen on eating out any more!

You all do know that if you complain and have your meal sent back to the kitchen, the waiter may very well spit on your food before he serves it to you the second time around? I have a friend whose son worked as a waiter for a time--in one of the city's better restaurants too--and he says there are those who actually do that.

*LMAO* susanne, it's good ta see ya back on here!

Gross! Noone had said that one before despite how many times it's been told within our family circle.

I know about the complaints so usually when I have one, I forego the meal and ask for a refund instead.

Luckily we have several good friends w/kitchens/restaurants in this area and know the good places.

When we try a new one, we are kinda fearful but I guess you have to sort of not think about it.

Last year my dad and stepmom ordered some KFC while they were here and my older son ate with them. They found uncooked chicken (it was not fully done in the middle/still raw) and feathers on one of the wings they had. Yuck and double yuck so now none of us eats at KFC anymore (not that it hurts us greatly *LOL*)

Blech!! :smileypuke: Yuck yuck. Makes you wonder...and at the same time, you DON'T want to know!!

In some restaurant back East (can't even remember what state it was), my dad and I were eating...almost done, and the waitress came up and asked dad if he wanted more water. He said yes, so she poured some water and a bunch of ice into his half full glass (which he had been drinking out of during the meal). Then, glancing at the glass, she said "Oh, thats a lot of ice, here, let me fix that", and poured the whole thing! back into the pitcher of water, including the water he had been drinking. If she had done that with his....how many other people had it happened to?? Needless to say, we left pretty quickly, eyeing our meals suspiciously.

EW! That is pretty gross

The "worst" (funniest) food experience I ever had happened when my Aunt Ray was visiting from MO. She baked this sponge cake especially for me and brought it from MO to VA. We had it (I had it -- everyone else had something different ) for dessert and my grandmothers.

My sister had just gotten a glass of water and asked if I wanted any and I said no thanks. Then I took a bite of this cake. OMG! It was all I could do not to laugh. It was like it sucked my mouth dry. I have not ever had any food that has the texture or possible industrial uses that this cake had! I ate a tiny bit and broke it up to try and make it seem like I ate more. She sent it home with us...

We went to my parents before I went home and I told my parents about it on the way to their house so everyone had to try it when we got home and they saw I was right! We all were cracking up. At that time, their neighbors used to let there dog run loose and he spent every waking hour at my parents' house.

We gave that dog, Bob, the entire cake. Bob would sometimes find road kill and would carry it proudly around. He pranced off with the entire round pound cake and he was still carrying that sucker around two days later!!!!!

It's been years and years ago but we still talk about that cake and how awful it would have been if he'd been carrying that cake around the day Aunt Ray came to my parents' house!

Jo, one never knows! I did see his hands. He was wiping them on a towel when he came out. Towel looked clean and nothing on his hands or clothing. It was so gross!

We were told the meal would be removed from the bill but it wasn't. They did make us a box of chicken to go. As if I wanted to eat it! LOL We looked at what they sent us home last night. It was so cooked the meat was pulling from the bone. We had to laugh! But will not be eating it!

Oh, I've seen pubic hair on plates before! A group of us went to gamble at the boat and stopped to eat. Ordered a cobb salad and it was on the lip of the bowl it comes in. The manager told us it couldn't be pubic hair. After we informed him we were all nurses and nuring assistants and darn well know what pubic hair looks like we all ate for free. LOL But not the cobb salad!

Fran

poor fran!!! were you at the truckstop?? I have only ate there once and that was enough lol

I have worked in resturants on and off my whole life and i have to say i have never spit on anyones food or ever seen another co worker spit on anyones food. I guess it could happen but I do think its much more rare then people think. But I will say ohio health dept laws are much less strict then Illinois was. my neice is working for subway and they do not require anyone to have a sanitation certificate etc.

Ohhh Ohhhhhhhh  I think I may have to skip lunch today!

Here's my experience....a couple of years ago. There is an old quaint Mom and Pop joint out by the rodeo where we like to catch lunch and sometimes breakfast. There is this one waitress who is an older lady and this day it just so happened to be in the hot summer months. She was wearing a capped sleeve shirt....now why this restaurant does not use trays to carry the food back and forth I'll never know. She tends to put the baskets of food or plates on her arm from her elbows down to her hands. Well when she came to us with our food, I noticed that on my plate some of the food was hanging out and it was touching her arm where the inner elbow joints to the upper arm. Not that that was grose enough.....but factor in the fact that she was sweating quite a bit AND she had a skin condition.... :new_shocked: :smileypuke: !!! I don't know if it was eczema or what...but talk about being grossed out and not eating!!! No thank you!! It had been a long time since we went back and hubby likes the food. We sat at another spot and that waitress is still there...glad we did'nt sit in her territory. I did notice her arm cleared up but she has scars. Why they allow workers to work with things like that without covering up I'll never know. We don't eat out much these days! :cold:

Sterling, she may have had psoriasis. I am still scarred up from where my skin was covered up with that stuff. I would never ever ever work in a restaurant anymore because I suffer from that. That even grosses me out! I'm currently on some heavy duty drugs to clear it up.

I was at girl scout camp one summer and they had a salad bar one day. I dished up some raisins and sat down to eat. Looked down and there were dead flies in there :new_shocked: I no longer eat raisins.

Gosh this was ages and ages ago but it still makes me laugh when I think of it.

On the Seattle waterfront there used to be a dock where you could tie

up your pleasure boats and go to the waterfront restaurants to eat.

We'd had a full day out on the water with friends and we all decided to

end the evening at Ivar's Seafood restaurant. Everyone docked and we

walked over to Ivar's. I ordered steamed clams. The waitress forgot to

bring the melted butter. When she returned to the table with it she leaned

over to put the butter on the table on spilled it on my head. My hair is long

and curly and the butter ran from the top of my head, along the length of the

curls and splushed on my ****s and continued dripping into my lap......

Everyone at the table had their mouths opened in a big 'O'. And then the

waitress started giggling and everyone started belly laughing, including me.

She did bring me a fresh dish of butter and the clams were free.

Oohhhhh Nancy, that is a crazy story! What does Ivar's serve as a side dish? WEllll...hot buttered Nancy of course!

*LMAO* Sorry I could not resist.

There is a little hole in the wall place in the next town over that my sister knows well. Her sister in-law and husband are exceptionally good friends with the owner of the place. This is their "bread and butter" restaurant and makes more money for them than any of their other ones.

So upon the good recommendation my father and I went there for lunch. The first time we were there we saw a waitress clean off a table after a family left. They picked up all of the used dishes and wiped down the table. Then placed the coffee cups that were not used back onto the table. I didn't know this until after we left as my back was to that table. Of course we didn't have coffee with our lunch, so no problem there.

We decided that since the food was relatively tasty that we would give it a second chance. So we went back a couple of weeks later and the place was once again packed with people. We had to wait while a table was cleared. This was a small table and only 2 people could fit at it. We were standing next to the table and the waitress was clearing it off for us. This was a different waitress than the one that we saw doing this previously. She moved the silverware that was on the napkin on the table aside and took the plates from the 2 previous people and then wiped down the table. She then put the silverware back into it's spot and went to walk off. I said "Excuse me! I want a clean set of silverware to be placed on the table." She responded with "Why? This set wasn't used!!!"

Needless to say we were shocked! We got our clean silverware, and since we were right next to the kitchen and could see everything from where we were, we stayed and had our lunch consisting of eggs as we could watch them take them from the shell and cook them and then went back to work. (Our lunch hour was short and we just didn't have time to go somewhere else!)

I told my sister and she was VERY disgusted as she is one that can't stand it when the silverware is NOT placed on a napkin. She of course took this up with the owners and we have never been back.

Then there was the Mexican restaurant in California. My husband was sitting there eating his meal and he could see the kitchen area where they prepare the chips and salsa. As he was eating he watched a waitress take the remaining chips off of a table after the customers left and carry it to the prep area. He then watched the chips get dumped into another basket that was partially full and brought back out to a new set of customers and placed before them. Of course my husband couldn't finish his dinner and had all he could do to not regurgitate what he already ate. He left after telling the other people what just happened to their chips.

And then a couple of years ago I went to my local grocery store (big chain name) and bought a wonderful looking chef salad and took it back to the office which is less than 5 minutes walk from the store. I was sitting at my desk working and eating the salad when all of the sudden I found a large dead beatle in it. Now if that wasn't bad enough, I looked through the remaining salad (about 1/2) and could not find all of the bug! It had been dead for a while and only 1/2 of it was there! I immediately took the salad back and complained

and talked with the people in the deli and they offered to only exchange my salad for another, and didn't really want to offer me a refund!!! I told them that why would I want another one that came from the same salad mix that I was just eating! :new_shocked: Anyway, I don't buy salads from them any more!

Now I tend to only go to places where I can watch the prep work and what they are doing really closely!

Most of these stories are gross BUT having worked in the restaurant/ hotel business for 17 years I can tell you what you see if nothing compared to what you don't see!!!!!!!!

I have seen many, many things!!!!!!!!! I will leave it at that!
