Starting today I have to give myself two shots a day in my belly of Love-lox so I can go off the anticoagulant and have the surgery to remove the carcinoma off my face/nose..I have a blood clot problem and take stuff so as to not clot..Course NOW they want me to clot as this area bleeds a lot..

so this am did first shot at Dr office (made me do it) and this junk really really stings a lot and keeps on stinging and already have huge dark bruise..have to give 14 of these babies!

They just say necessary evil and of course it is and no biggie since I see what so many on here are going through..

But I'm here to tell you I have to do it again at 10PM tonight and already nervous even though Carl is going to help me

What a sissy I've become..also have to start putting drops in eye four times a day so they can do Cataract surgery on me in 10 days and again the other one two weeks after that..! Golly when it rains it pours..

On the other hand my second grand son graduated today from his tech school (US ARMY) and is on his way home for Thanksgiving! What a nice surprise..he has to then report to Ft Drum, New York Dec 15th for deployment, a sad time that.

We'll be thrilled to see Steve and wish him a safe journey for the next year.

I feel for you I had to have a shot that is the opposite of what you had to give yourself I think? one to lessen blood clots and the nurse gave it to me in my tummy and OMG OUCH the needle doesnt hurt but that stuff STINGS and for a while and you should see the bruise on my tummy

Raven and I joke and call it my 3rd **** lol

But all for the greater good right at least you have someone to help give it to you that makes it a bit easier I would think. (and cussing a little seemed to help me a bit )

Oh man I'm just wincing reading it. I am so sorry your having to go thru this.

Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.

Is there a way they could numb your skin before getting them? Recently, I have had to have 2 shots in each eye and I was dreading them, but they numbed my eye and I barely felt them (and the shots did what they were supposed to do, too).

Good luck! I hope this is behind you and you're on the road to recovery very soon!

How is your tummy feeling today?

and Jill OMG i mean OMG that is something out of a horror movie i cant imagine what you needed shots in your eyeballs for but seriously for me it would have to come down to death or shots in the eyeballs and even that would be a hard decision..

OMG that is totally creeping me out you are a BRAVE woman

I had a shot in the tummy once and I begged them not to give me another, it was horrible. I was in the hospital getting my appendix out....I don't ever want a shot there again......

The series of rabies shots that I got were much less painful (but then they aren't in the tummy)

I'm a nurse and often give Lovenox injections.....stab it in FAST and it won't hurt.

Thanks all, silly eh? I feel embarrassed for myself..think of what some others are going thruogh but just a lot with these procedures all at once this month etc..

This is a substitute for the anticoagulate and hopefully it too will prevent the clots..

Hey last night it hurt again but this morning I did it, then predded as hard as I could for as long as I could stand it and the burning went away faster..it's the burning inside after the shot that got to me..

And Jill! OMG girl now I really do feel stupid..

Found out today I'm running on empty for Potassium so have to start taking that too 2X a day..for week..maybe that's why I was getting dizzy and so tired.

Since you are a nurse can I ask is it normal to have a little bump in the middle of the bruise from the shot?

I have a bruise that is well bigger then a quarter i would say the size of 2 quarters and right in the center is a little hmmm i guess i will call it a little bubble which is why we laugh and call it the 3rd ****

Hey

No, these shots really do not hurt and I think I won't need any more of them. The last one (last week) hurt a little and made me kind of jump but more because I was surprised to feel anything. When you first get the shot, it makes your vision go black in that eye but it comes back slowly starting within about 30 seconds and within 10 or so, it's normal.

It's to clear up some edema I have from this diabetes and it's working very well based on all these pictures he's taken of my eyes. I'm going to have some light laser surgery and then be all better. The idea of a shot in the eye at least in this case, sounds waaaaaaaaaaaay worse than it actually is. To be honest, the biggest discomfort is that they put this little thing in to hold my eye open and that iritates my eyelid a little and the light is uncomfortable for that minute or two that I can't close that eye.

I'm reading (with my old glasses) from the 20/20 line now which is WAY better than before I started this treatment with this Retina specialist

I give my horses and dogs shots..have anyway a lot in past with no problems..however when Shadow got his rabies he ended up with a football sized swelling..I think sometimes the stuff doesn't disperse well enough or you might have a small edema there which should go away?

I do know they told me NOT to rub this shot at all, just press hard and hold..

Maybe you should call and ask your doctor or the nurse? well, off to shower and do my nigh time one ugh!

Later, Maxine

I think I need some kind of a bravery trophy LOL!!!! I take two shots in my stomach every day (insulin). BUT, they don't hurt at all. I actually rarely even feel them and the few times I do, just a slight sting. Way less than a pinch hurts
default_smile.png

Last time I was in for my eye shot, the nurse told me they would be doing her favorite proceedure for someone else later that day. They syringe out some eye fluid and replace it with a "bubble". I have no idea why they do that, and told her if they ever have to do that to me, just please do not tell me what they're doing. THAT would freak me out.

Actually, that sounds like an abscess to me. I've had that happen a couple times over the years giving shots and as I understand it, it's not actually to do with the ingredients of the shot but to how/where the shot was given. Just kind of goes in wrong, and causes that swelling. If it is really bad, I think it can be hosed. In the cases with my horses, it went away on its own.

Owwee! I feel so sorry for you. I HATE shots so you have my sympathy. I'll take a hundred pills before a shot. I know you don't have a choice and you are so much more brave than I would be. ((((HUGS))))

When the Dr told me I had diabeitis I told him he better do something because I WOULDN'T give myself those shots. He said YOU better do something or YOU will be giving yourself those shots!
default_new_shocked.gif
It's been almost eight years now and I STILL DON'T take those shots.

Ooooh, the shots don't hurt

I opted to go on insulin vs. the pills because it wasn't okay to try and get pregnant on the oral medications. Just for any diabetic, if your doctor thinks you will have better control on insulin and recommends it, try it and I think you'll feel like I do about it. If we decide not to try and get pregnant, I would NOT want to use oral medications again because I love the insulin

Oh that was last summer when vet gave them rabies..Carl iced it three times a day and it went away, just took a while. I'm toying with idea of no rabies as they always seem to get a reaction.

Well guys, I only have 4 more days to go so that's just 8 more shots..see it's not the shot that hurts its the liquid..As it disperses it burns and hurts like the devil! Takes about 5 minutes (long minutes) to go away and since I have to give so many my whole belly is sore,,but I'll live to complain about it and feel very Blessed about that!
