My three year old, who used to be a crazy beast, is going really well, I started him this spring, bitting and ground driving, and then started up with him again after the shows were over. He's really good, has taken to the driving really well and is so quiet ... too quiet really, my spitfire has turned into a plow horse! It's not that bad really, he's just very quiet and calm, and doesn't have the fire I wanted in a driving horse. He is going to be an amazing youth horse or beginner horse though! Never spooks at anything and is just so good. Maybe he'll gain some spunk, we'll see!

All are doing great!

I have these in training now (2 are mine, rest are friends)-

3 year old stallion

4 year old stallion

5 yr old gelding

2- 3 yr old geldings

1-4 year old gelding and

1 7 year old gelding

3 year old is at the ground driving stage, the 4 year old is on the "learning to wear the harness" stage, 5 year old gelding is learning his figure 8's, the rest are just being hooked up for their second and third times and the 7 year old is happily trotting on the trails and doing great. I'm very pleased with all "my" boys

Chief is already trained to drive but he needs more miles. I ordered a bitting rig and one of those headstall type things with rings all around the noseband for lunging. He has been ground driving about 5x a week. I plan to work with him over the winter on ground driving and leave the cart work to a trainer. Of course he already knows his stuff but he needs a bit more work. I am very happy with how he is ground driving and reining. Everything we do at the moment is walking. He does figure 8's, barrel paterns, pole paterns and then flexing. I am just not comfirtable starting him in the cart myself. He will not be showing driving in 07' but 08' is deffently going to be a performance year for him. I am thrilled with his ground driving though. I love when things 'click' and he picks up on it.

I also have worked small amounts with Royal, very small amounts about 2x a week maybe ..? He is just starting the bitting rig. The farthest i will go with him is on the ground, i completely do not trust myself to go farther then ground driving!
