I remember when I was right out of high school and working part time I remember thinking how much better it would be if I could make 700 a month........then when my hubby and I were first together and we did our taxes that first year we had made 9000 that year...........now days I sit and think as I pay the bills......man if we could pull in 75,000 we'd be set

the sad part is money wise we are no better off than we were way back then ...still have empty pockets after the bills are paid

We are not hardly financially secure.

Twenty years ago we had a lovely Florida home and no debts, money in the bank, two good incomes and insurances and investments.

A couple of hurricanes and floods took that away.

To date we are back to having a home, with a 20 year mortage left, but this time on our own acreage, another farm in the valley that I am going to sell, no investments other than that, unless you call my horses an investment. We're not ahead of the game after all this time either. After bills, there's nothing much left here either.

IT AIN'T OVER......TIL IT'S OVER !

My parents almost lost our house a couple times for various reasons. Interestingly, my father made some wise real estate investments when he could and now he's worth a few million (Mom passed away the day before 9-11).

Funny thing, he remarried and all my siblings who are financially "stable" were worried about him not having a prenuptual agreement. He's the happiest I've seen him in years.....my folks were better known as "The Bickersons"! Always thank "the other woman" for taking care of my Dad in his sunset years. He's 79 and has more spring in his step than most 40 year olds!

We live by the seat of our pants and happy with the blessing of living in the boonies where we can enjoy our many animals and each other!

I guess the big difference is we now make enough to pay "most" of the bills

and I do prioritize what gets paid.........sure gets old though working ones tushy off and driving 1/2 my life away to get to and from work just to "pay the bills"......

I can remember when my hubby and I first got married....we lived in a bunkhouse on an old farm and paid $350 rent. No utilities, one vehicle payment....life was easy on $1500 a month. I went to school at night, worked in a wedding shop during the day. I'm not real sure what hubby did.....he "worked" for a guy (which usually consisted of drinking coffee at the shop till noon, and roping a dummy till dark)

NOW....if we were only making $1500 a month, we would have starved to death a long time ago.

I think when it comes to money, how much would be enough? The answer is ALWAYS just a little more

My income has increased 8x what it was about 10 years ago, but I'd be happier with just a little bit more

Changed my mind,
