To Bang or Not to Bang?

To trim manes and tails on the "big" horses, I have found that I really like the SoloComb.

Here is a little online video I found on it:

It has replacement blades but I've trimmed maybe over a hundred manes and tails (drafts) and haven't needed to replace.

I like banged tails on really thick tails and more natural tapers on thinner tails.

Wow, I can't imagine any mini standing still to have that much hair yanked out by the roots every few weeks!
Mine will! He does have a very bushy mane, tail and forelock (though the forelock is and always will be quite short) I think the forelock with clippers, but the mane is pulled. He will stand for hours on end for me to pull his mane, I could do the whole thing in one go if my fingers could handle it!

To cut the tail I bundle it in my hand about an inch from the end and use the scisors to cut up into the tail, then I let the tail down and carefully trim the sides so it has the tapered look (still holding the scisors so they cut up into the tail). I have banged it once or twice, but I like the natural look better.

I prefer both on my minis, Some look good with full tails, some look good with banged

No banging here, but I do not like a tail to drag the ground a lot either. I like one to barely skim across the ground, and if it needs to be trimmed I do not want a straight across fake looking cut. I will try to round it up on the sides and make it look more natural.
