Mary Lou,

In the past, and over the years, I have often held you in admirable comparison to another of the like, among “horse folksâ€. Don’t know if you may recall, but his name is Don Daniels, of the Standardbred Harness Racing community. He has long provided a much needed, deeply appreciated, sometimes abused of the privilege, but most importantly a “place†where folks in like interests can come together, learn from each other, and grow as the community they are. The sport of harness racing is by far the better for it, in spite the few setbacks along the way.

Like Don, you have provided us this community over the years, and though, like someone mentioned earlier, it has brought forth a little bit of everything among “the good, the bad and the uglyâ€, it is still very much a part of each and every one of us.

In reading some of the old magazines of the industry, I have often pondered how did this great industry survive so spectacularly as it has since it’s conception well over 2 centuries ago.

I look through the pages of some of the newer issues and try as I may, to see some of the old adds in them. To hold that same “nostalgic awe†in what is happening through their efforts over the years that would surely stand the tests of time as the industry itself.

Don strives to not only preserve the genuine treasure of the industry’s past, but to provide an avenue of unique communication through his “forum and resourceful related pages†for those with genuine love for the sport and breed, to grow among one another, and as they “family†they are, it holds a constant new birth of hope for those incoming and new to also strive to uphold through their years to come.

Well, though I don’t have a solution to your immediate question, I just wanted to say, that like Don, and many other SB Folks I greatly respect and admire, I hold you in equal regard, among many other Mini Folks I greatly respect and admire. I just hope that at lease my thanks and gratitude will always be EVIDENT to you.

I guess I just wanted to say, that I wish folks (young and old, experienced and newbie, and anyone in between) could take a moment in their day, every day, and just realize the genuine treasure, gift and privilege it is to just be a part of it all, no matter how big or small. Then maybe, let the genuine appreciations of that, be what guides your input as you go.

If it’s not constructively POSITIVE toward the FUTURE…then just don’t sweat it, let it go, and move on. (I know, easier “saidâ€, than “doneâ€â€¦but all things “WORTH ITâ€, are easier “saidâ€, than “doneâ€â€¦I know. Just try to stay positive best you can anyways.)

And like the previous mentioned Serenity Prayer...

God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world

as it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right

if I surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely happy with Him

Forever in the next.

Amen.

--Reinhold Niebuhr

And an added word, for any willing to hear…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

And lean not on your own understanding;

And in all your ways acknowledge him,

And he will direct your paths.

- Proverbs 3: 5-6

Well… I just hope I haven’t worn my welcome with that or anything else I may have ever attempted to contribute to all I hold dear among you.

Oh, and if I could, I would take up a collection to send you and your hubby on a nice VACATION to rest and recoup, because I can’t think of anyone more deserving…than YOU, (oh, and most definately Don Daniels too!)!!!!

Warmest ALWAYS,

Tanya (Okey-dokey, back to workey!)

Mary Lou,

I don't know SWA's Don, but I just wanted to add my sincere THANK YOU along with hers for you.

I wouldn't have your 'job' in a million years, or could I even to begin to handle it like you do.

I'm so sorry for everything that is happening, but please know that there are hundreds of us that make this forum a part of their everyday life, either just reading or actually sometimes posting!

There are so many other sites on the internet that I have been on and have checked out to be a part of but none compare to this one. The way it is run, Mary Lou and all the moderators with their hard work and fairness, I have to say Thank you. Through out the years you have provided me/us with a place to learn about these amazing little creatures and a place where I have made wonderful friends along the way. I could not have asked for more.

Here's the deal As some have said of other things we must police ourselves and Mary Lou does that, she also supports us, defends us, communicates with us each and every one if need be, fixes all errors and problems,

heck I think she'd deliver the foals and mentor your kids too. I don't know where you get your energy Mary Lou nor your wisdom but Thank God for it and I know our Miniature horses are far better off for having you in our lives!!

Thank you for your post SWA. And mostly thank you Mary Lou. For putting up with us when we are naughty and when we are nice. You share in our joys and our sorrows and have the patience of Job when we abuse this board.

I hope all of us can carry on in a way that makes you not so weary.

I agree that Mary Lou has made an awesome site and I'm sometimes afraid she gets taken for granted. Frankly, I don't know what we all would do for communication regarding our passion with minis and ponies and mini donkeys if it weren't for Mary Lou!

Mary Lou is..........

AWESOME!!

Your generosity, patients, and tolerance are second to none! You provide not just a site, but a HOME for this family to gather. Being able to come here and learn, share and make friends is a wondrous gift. I've made many great friends, saved the life of a colt, and learned so much because of this place you've made for us all. I for one can never thank you enough Mary Lou, nor can I begin to tell you just what LB means to me! You help all of us, I wish just once you would let us do something for YOU!

MaryLou, I just wanted to add my two cents worth here and also say you are the best, we have all learned so much from this wonderful forum you have provided for us, we have all made so many cyber friends who we have gone on to become very close personal friends with ,and there is only one person we can thank for that , and that is YOU, so THANK YOU so much for EVERYTHING you do for us , especially for all your time -to keep everything running as smoothly as possible with a forum of this size. You are greatly appreciated, altho we dont say it to you as often as we should! Corinne

It would not make much sense for me to repeat everyone of the previous posters just to say the same things. But I do want you to know that this forum is so much more than words and ideas on an internet site. You have created a site that is real, it lives, it grows and fosters the ideals that people helping and supporting each other is still a part of life even in the age of cyber communications. You get my vote of appreciation for all the personal sacrifices you have made for the success of this site. No other site on the world wide web compares to the good this site is responsible for.
