Mary Lou,
In the past, and over the years, I have often held you in admirable comparison to another of the like, among “horse folksâ€. Don’t know if you may recall, but his name is Don Daniels, of the Standardbred Harness Racing community. He has long provided a much needed, deeply appreciated, sometimes abused of the privilege, but most importantly a “place†where folks in like interests can come together, learn from each other, and grow as the community they are. The sport of harness racing is by far the better for it, in spite the few setbacks along the way.
Like Don, you have provided us this community over the years, and though, like someone mentioned earlier, it has brought forth a little bit of everything among “the good, the bad and the uglyâ€, it is still very much a part of each and every one of us.
In reading some of the old magazines of the industry, I have often pondered how did this great industry survive so spectacularly as it has since it’s conception well over 2 centuries ago.
I look through the pages of some of the newer issues and try as I may, to see some of the old adds in them. To hold that same “nostalgic awe†in what is happening through their efforts over the years that would surely stand the tests of time as the industry itself.
Don strives to not only preserve the genuine treasure of the industry’s past, but to provide an avenue of unique communication through his “forum and resourceful related pages†for those with genuine love for the sport and breed, to grow among one another, and as they “family†they are, it holds a constant new birth of hope for those incoming and new to also strive to uphold through their years to come.
Well, though I don’t have a solution to your immediate question, I just wanted to say, that like Don, and many other SB Folks I greatly respect and admire, I hold you in equal regard, among many other Mini Folks I greatly respect and admire. I just hope that at lease my thanks and gratitude will always be EVIDENT to you.
I guess I just wanted to say, that I wish folks (young and old, experienced and newbie, and anyone in between) could take a moment in their day, every day, and just realize the genuine treasure, gift and privilege it is to just be a part of it all, no matter how big or small. Then maybe, let the genuine appreciations of that, be what guides your input as you go.
If it’s not constructively POSITIVE toward the FUTURE…then just don’t sweat it, let it go, and move on. (I know, easier “saidâ€, than “doneâ€â€¦but all things “WORTH ITâ€, are easier “saidâ€, than “doneâ€â€¦I know. Just try to stay positive best you can anyways.)
And like the previous mentioned Serenity Prayer...
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
--Reinhold Niebuhr
And an added word, for any willing to hear…
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding;
And in all your ways acknowledge him,
And he will direct your paths.
- Proverbs 3: 5-6
Well… I just hope I haven’t worn my welcome with that or anything else I may have ever attempted to contribute to all I hold dear among you.
Oh, and if I could, I would take up a collection to send you and your hubby on a nice VACATION to rest and recoup, because I can’t think of anyone more deserving…than YOU, (oh, and most definately Don Daniels too!)!!!!
Warmest ALWAYS,
Tanya (Okey-dokey, back to workey!)
