I know people have said things about trailer monitors before. But, What kind do you use and would like to see some pics on how and where you mount the camera and the monitor.

What I use came from Radio Shack but it is not clear to me whether or not they still sell what I have.

The camera is mounted in the back corner of the trailer. I was bolted on but when I added my driving cart hanging from the ceiling I had to lower the camera to see the horses. I never got around to bolting it on down lower and just used duct tape. It works for a while until the camera finally falls down. Maybe I will get it bolted in sometime this winter.

As for the monitor it just sits on the dash of my motorhome or when I am pulling the trailer with the truck it just sits on the seat next to me. Not much hitech about the way either are mounted. What makes it easy is that the system is wireless. The monitor is wired into the electrical system of the trailer so I must drive with the lights on. The monitor is plugged into the lighter plug.

We just put a new one in, similar it sounds like to Neils. The first one I had was a bigger monitor, black & white, that had to sit on the console or passenger seat. This one is a much smaller image, about 3" maybe & mounted just left of the radio/ac controls on the dash, but it's color and the picture is good. We had so much vibration with the camera in the rear of the trailer that - I suspect - is part of why we didn't get a good picture first time around. Have moved it to the front and it works like a charm. LOVE being able to glance at them going down the road. After having a horse try to climb over a divider last year (felt something when it happened and pulled over thinking I had a truck problem!), I sure like the security of having at least an idea that they are all still standing LOL.

I have a great trailer. It cost all of $50. Thats like falling in a pile of s**t and coming out smelling like a rose. It is fully enclosed so my only worry is that they would try to get up in the feed area and it is TB height. I guess I could close that off somehow since the manger has to lift up to use the escape doors. Nothing can get left open. But then I am a worry wart when it comes to the kids. I wanted a mini van so I could see them when I took them somewhere. I think thats why I am asking about the monitor. I will check it out at Radio Shack.

Got ours from Radio Shack. It's wireless and we mounted it on the back rear corner. We also got the color monitor that sits on the console. If I were to buy again I would opt for the black and white monitor next time.

Really like the idea of being able to see in the trailer and not having to pull over every time some unusual sound comes from the back.

We have a really nice one that my husband gave me. The monitor is actually in the rearview mirror so there is nothing on the dash or in the way. It only takes up a small portion of the mirror and when the camera is off you have the entire mirror again. I love it because it's clear, takes up no space and when I'm pulling a trailer I don't use the rear view mirror anyway. It's wonderful.

Sorry - edited to add camera info. The camera is by Rostra and I think the mirror, cam and wiring were all less than $300, but I would have to verify that as he gave it to me as a gift. We are probably going to start selling them...we'll see.
