Good morning everyone..........or I should say.........Good "Soggy" morning everyone, since we just got 4.5" of rain between midnight last night and 9:00 am this morning......and it's still raining here!!! :new_shocked:

I'm wondering what types of trailers everyone uses, and why. Type (be it specifically for minis or whatever), enclosed or stock, and manufacturer.

I'd like to know, for those of you in Wisconsin, where you bought yours, and if you are satisfied, or what you would change.........if anything. Price too if you wouldn't mind sharing that.

We officially sold the remainder of our alpaca herd yesterday!! Yeh, so we're going to now start looking at trailers so we have something to pick up the mini with. We'll be looking at another mini Saturday, and one the same day we pick up Beauty the next weekend, so we'll need one for sure. One thing I need to consider is that we are buying minis for driving, so we will have carts to haul if we go off the farm for fun. We'll have 2 carts, one for Dave, and one for me.

We have a converted enclosed cargo trailer. We got it used recently, but we love it. The people had dividers, mats, vents and windows installed.

At the moment we have 3 trailers. I know, overkill but we are selling the mongo one. It is a full sized 5 horse slant with living quarters and we were able to fit about 10 or so horses in it. Most used now is our Calico 7 horse mini slant, and we also have a full sized two horse.

I feel very strongly about safety and must have dual axles and brakes on any trailer. Blow a tire on a single axle and you can be in a world of hurt, especially if going at a high rate of speed on a highway!

Yup, got dual axles and for better gas mileage bumper pull / aluminum body with steel frame (if I'm remembering right). It's a Hawk; will haul 5 minis. Now if I had to do it over I'd want each of the "stalls" just a tad wider since my 35" is chubby and the space for him is really close! Also I happened to have liked my big gooseneck (so easy to manuver) that we sold so I'd prefer (if money were no object -ha!-) to have a gooseneck with living quarters and more room for carts. I can carry everything I need in this (if I only "need" one cart) plus 3 horses. It ran around $7000 new. I was in a hurry so we bought what they had. Came from northern Wisconsin; sorry forgot the name of the business.

You should really think about what you might want to haul - like more than 1 cart, a fence or divider for a stall if you show and share stalls, the size of horse(s), and if you camp etc where all the accesories/necessities will go. When we go for very long or very far it sometimes gets cramped.

We have an Adam, 16ft stock combo, has solid side with slats at the top of the sides, solid roof, center gate and side human door in the front. Being as we have driving horses, putting the minis in the back with cart and everything else up front or using it as 2 box stalls, they are sooo big they could over night in them and wouldn't know the difference. I am going to make a few small changes to it but I haven't yet. I want to put some sort of dividers in the back area so can haul more than one or two in the back area with leaving hte front space for a "dressing" room.

My mom just bought a 16 foot stock trailer that has a center divider. We can put in about 6 boys and 6 girls using the divider to split them up. We are from WI, but I'll have to ask where she got hers from.

We were *very* fortunate in finding the *Perfect* trailer for us! :aktion033:

We have a 2003 Wrangler Mini Trailer, but it was customized to Erica's specifications, and is absolutely Perfect!

It holds 7 Mini's, (which is what we have,) has a great dressing/tack room, and is a gooseneck, so it has even more storage space! You can put hay or carts on the top, and it is 6' high so it pulls beautifully behind our truck. It has the height we need to get into it, but still short enough to minimize wind resistance.

We had looked at getting a cargo trailer and customizing it ourselves, but this trailer had everything we could possibly want and MORE, and it was all ready to go! Simple decision for us!

We use a Thorosport trailer made for larger horses. It is a bumper pull and has a dressing room. We got a carpenter to build two miniature safe stalls. We can fit three. Diego usually goes in the front since he is so small.

We have a 16 foot mini trailer. It's 5 feet tall inside, 5 feet wide and 12 feet long. It has a hay rack on top and can hold just about anything. It hauls very easily. It is the most awesome trailer! We can fit about 8 minis in there with or without dividers.

When we drive up to a place we get the weirdest looks! Went to a show this past weekend and my trailer got tons of attention! lol

We've been everywhere with it.

We bought a used Chaparral 2 horse slant with dressing room, and used it for years with our big horses. We still have them, so we had it modified for mini dividers as well, rather than buying a trailer just for the minis. It has a few slats way up at the top of the trailer, and the slats go to the roof even on the back door so no one can jump out. Here's a picture of the interior with the mini dividers in it:

We only have room for 3 minis with the dividers in, because the trailer has a wide escape door on the head wall, making the first mini stall as big as the big horse's stall.

We love this trailer and have had 2 people ask to buy it while we've been pulling it! One guy offered me a big horse and tack! Yeah, okay, why do I want to give up my trailer for a horse? We had removable plexiglass put in this year, to keep the horses dry when it rains and to block the winter wind. However, we can still take the plexiglass out during the summer to let more air in.

After having various miniature trailers over the years, I purchased a new CM trailer 3 years ago. It's similar to this one pictured. The trailer is a CM Legacy which is aluminum over steel. They also make a bumper pull version.

Mine is a 3 horse slant load and I had the inside customized for miniatures. It has dividers for 8 horses. Here's a picture of those.

I love this trailer! It pulls great and has all the room I need to haul my equipment to shows.

We started a number of years ago with a big horse trailer, but didn't like it for mini's becauses of the lack of lower windows etc. About three years ago we bought a full height Hart with mini windows and dividers in it and can haul 11 with the dividers in it and about 20 head to tail without them. It is a 30' goose neck with a large tack room which gives us pleanty of room for stall stuff and tack. Being full height we laos haev room for two carts in an overhead rack when we need to haul the horses and carts. We really are ompressed with the way it pulls and would not change much if anything about it.

I have a 5' wide, 5' tall, 8' long bumper pull mini stock trailer with a wrack on top and I love it.

BUT, I have ordered a new "fancy" aluminum gooseneck trailer that will be very similar to Nancy / MNMinis trailer and by the same manufacturer. It will be a 14' gooseneck set up to haul 5 minis w/ dividers all in a row, and then the dressing room wall will "swing" so I could put two more minis in that area for a total of 7 minis if need be.

My new one will be delivered from Wrangler Trailers on Friday, September 1 and I can hardly wait!!!

I'm keeping the little mini bumper pull trailer because sometimes it will be easier to take the small trailer but I am really excited about having a fancy new trailer. I've never had a really nice horse trailer before. The icing on the cake is I thought the pricing is VERY reasonable and Wrangler Trailers is soooooo easy to work with.

I'm even having it customized at their factory with my logo and farm info before it's delivered on September 1 (not that I'm counting the days or anything LOL!).

Thanks to Erica and Nancy (and BUDDY of Wrangler) for helping me decide exactly what to get and what bells and whistles to go for (all of 'em!).

I don't have any pictures of ours at this time -- but we love it.

It is 8' long and 4' tall (picture small uhaul trailer) has big side windows, a little manger inside and a ramp + door in the back. We had a roof rack installed where we can haul the cart or gates or extra hay (not all of that at one time) and it is a bumper pull. It is small enough that you can tow it with a small car --

Negative - a little short inside - you have to duck while you are in it

Negative - single axel -- but in 5 years have not had a problem with it

Negative - I don't like the windows that are in it - would rather have bus windows or drop downs. Not as much ventilation as I would prefer

It can hold 3 34" minis loose in it -- or 2 of them if I put in the stall divider. Our 38" mini hauls nicely in it - have even hauled a 40" donkey - could not believe it would go it -- we rescued it (a friend did with me) at an auction.. I don't recommend hauling a horse/donkey of that size in it.. but it was possible and only a short distance.

I bought it used from another breeder.

It is the perfect size to haul a horse to the vet if necessary- or one mare/foal to/from the stallion owner's place.

Some day we might buy a real horse trailer if we really start showing ADS - but we will always keep this trailer for hauling one horse.

Here are a few pictures of my trailer - I just got it made this year from Buddy at Wrangler trailers to replace my outgrown one that I had from them that Nancy bought. This is a 24ft gooseneck, 6ft height on the inside, back ramp as well as a side ramp, dressing room/tack area, drop down windows ext....It has dividers for 11 horses

We had never had a fancy trailer before either, and we are just thrilled with ours, it is so beautiful, and totally functional! (Thank You Erica!!) Mike will be taking off next week to Montana to bring our new little pregnant mare home (Thank You Mary!!!), so she will be the first one to use our new trailer!!!

That is Wonderful that they are doing your logo/farm info too!!! Wrangler is a great Company, they really strive to do whatever you want - real old-fashioned Customer Service!
