I had made the dreadful decision to put my old Jersey house cow down this winter, she was getting so arthritic and wobbly on her legs, she was over 20 and it was not fair to keep her going. She gave me 18 wonderful years, I owed it to her.

So fairly upset about that, then friends who keep thier Shetland driving ponies with us came asking whether I had seen one of them, He's a bit of a loner and an escape artist, and they didn't know the lie of the land, so I got on the quad and went to look for him. But I found him dead. What a day. He was an old man of 26, so I suppose we have to expect things like that at his age.

Everyone was so upset, but he'd escaped over a deep boggy bit of land that we couldn't get a tractor onto to move him to burry him.

All I can say is I have the most wonderful, understanding neighbours, one turned out with his quad so with the two we could get over the boggy land and get the pony removed, and the other guy whose land he had escaped onto offered us the digger. It's at times like this good neighbours make life that bit better.

Poor old guy, he'd been a championship driving trials pony in his youth. Taking on horses of 15.2hh in the same classes and beating them. He was only 38 inches!

RIP little fellow.

Wally, sorry for the bad day, sounds like the ole guy and gal went to find greener pastures! Im sure he will be missed and loved. ((Hugs))

What a Trooper at 38 inches . He must of been a great pony. Thinking of his family

he was a dear boy.

In the driving trials, he would be beaten on the walk trot bits of the marathon, then he'd beat the big horses on the hazards becasue he and his friend in pairs were much smaller and gou'd gallop though the hazzards when the big horses were down to a walk!

Good things come in small packages!

Aw I am soory to hear about both of your beloved friends. Heres a cyber hug for you

It doesn't ever get easy to let our friends go. They were lucky to have been with a caring person who loved them and i want to thank you for that.

Hugs

Soory for you and your friends losses. It is great when you have wonderful neighbors. Hugs sent your way.

Can things get any better?

To top it all now, I have found out that a mare I was hoping was in foal isn't I have two mares hopping lame for some inexplicable reason, in foal too so I cannot dole bute ouot willy-nilly.

And then this morning I had to have one of my ferrets PTS. He had a massive tumour that they couldn't remove. Not having much luck ATM.
