Harvey and I "discovered" Dexter a couple years ago on DVD, and now we're watching the 1st season of Lost -- talk about late to the party!!! I thought it would be fun to hear what tv shows you all might recommend catching on DVD? I love using Netflix and being able to watch w/o the commercials suspense!!! Thanks to NetFlix and Tivo, I don't think advertisers get their money's worth at my house

If you like "smart stuff", I recommend Numbers. Math (you don't have to be a math wiz to understand and enjoy it, it's just all the more entertaining) and crime solving, very cool. I am a total nerd and my husband is a Math professor, so, yep, we are a family of nerds. Psych is hilarious and cool too. The main character pretends to be a psychic, but he's just really sharp at finding/figuring out clues.

Ooh Ooh........NCIS

My husband is a DVD addict. I don't say anything as what he spends on DVDs is way less than what I spend on minis! Besides there are a lot worse things he could be addicted too. He has DVD player that holds 400 DVDs and he cannot fit all of them in it.

A few TV series we have gotten are "Land of the Lost", "Wonder Woman", "MacGyver", "OC" and my favorite show "Chuck".

He also has two Tivo's, some other thing (forget the name) that he can download shows to DVD. Oh, and Clearplay, which he uses when we want to watch an R movie with the kids. You can use it to take out all the inappropriate scenes and words out of movies.

He even has a spreadsheet of all his movies on his laptop so when someone borrows one he logs who took it and when.

Californication is good. The Tudors is awesome. I'm a huge Six Feet Under Fan and am slowly watching all 5 seasons again with Kevin, as he hadn't seen it.

Some favorite shows that I DVR are The Mentalist (love that show), Lipstick Jungle, The Practice, NCIS, Cold Case. I have no idea if any are available on DVD.

Prisonbreak !! I am addicted to it .. it is now on its fourth season ..I have to admit the first season was the best

I didn't start watching it until last year so I bought the first three seasons on DVD and had days of constant episodes .. it was fantastic

I'm always saying he reminds me so much of Mark Harmon. Especially since he's grayed in the last few years.

I can't think of any "shows" per say that I enjoy recording. I'm more of a reality show watcher. Idol, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, H e l l 's Kitchen, stuff like that. Or when a good movie comes on one of the premiere movie channels I can't watch at the time, I DVR it.

We love Lost!! We own all 4 seasons and season 5 is playing now! But you would be totally Lost if you started watching season 5 without seeing the previous episodes. There is just so much to that movie it's insane! We also love Chuck, Terminator Sarah Chronicles, and a hundred more. Yes, we spend too much time watching TV.

Miami Vice was a great show. Magnum PI with Tom Selleck was another great series. I had a huge crush on him at the time.

Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles is a great show that is on now. One of my favorites. Not sure if the first season is out on DVD or not.

Boston Legal with

Monica Potter is Lori Colson

James Spader is Alan Shore

Candice Bergen is Shirley Schmidt

William Shatner is Denny Crane

Mark Valley is Brad Chase

Rhona Mitra is Tara Wilson

Rene Auberjonois is Paul Lewiston

My Mom got me started on this one. I bought her all the series for Christmas. It is a riot. It just went off the air recently.

My initial "on DVD" TV series purchases back when I left for college were Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the spinoff series Angel and Star Trek the Next Generation. I still love those and my roommate got me hooked on Sex in the City before we parted ways. Having cable for the first time introduced me to all the TLC series like "What Not to Wear" and Law and Order SVU. HUGE fan of that one! Now it's House, CSI (love Grissom!), Psych if it's on, I always liked "The Dead Zone"....

Ones I'd recommend beyond those are "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (I'm a new convert and it makes me cry happy tears every time), 30 Days (REALLY fun to discuss with your family afterwards) and Heroes. I tried Lost for the first couple of seasons but just couldn't get into it.

It's also fun to go back and dig out golden oldies like Quantum Leap (Scott Bakula, yum!) and Dinosaurs ("I'm the baby, gotta love me...").

Have fun!

Psych! Its very similar (too similar) to the mentalist , only its funny and has been around for several years. In the Last Psych episode, they mentioned the mentalist in a sarcastic sort of way.

McLEOD'S DAUGHTERS! takes place on a station in Australia and is very addicting! jennifer
