Sorry, I have a great picture of a very twisted cord that was NOT the cause of the abortion, but I'm too ignorant to post it.

We lost our one and only foal due this year back in Dec. Cord was long and very twisted. We also lost a foal two years ago the same way. ( not related)Both still had three months to go to full term. I was told that the twisted cord may have caused the death of the fetus, or the fetus could have been in distress and that caused the cord to twist.
 
Just as a matter of curiosity, how many of the twisted cord babies have been colts? All of mine have been colts and it seems from the posts here that most are. Majority of the ones I hear about are colts as well. Any logic to that?

We've only had it happen twice and both were colts. Interesting observation Jan!
