How many of you "do" two books at one time?

I never have before, but now I am...

On the days I go to the office, I always listen to an audio book on my way to and from. I also listen to an audio book every night before bed, and H hears those, too. Also, when we have days off and can take a nap -- we do! Wouldn't miss the chance. We listen to the book then, too. Additionally, I often wake up in the middle of the night and want to listen to the (a) book.

H's always asking "what happened..." because I have heard more than he has. So, now, I'm trying to do a book for me AND a book for us. So far, actually, so good. I completed one that was for me while doing one that was for us. I'd initially thought I could not keep track of two at a time, but it was really easy after all.

Do you all ever have more than one book going at a time?

I usually have two going at once. One is usually lighter reading.

I don't really like to read more than one at a time but I am doing it right now....chances are I will end up putting one aside until the other is finished.

I haven't done it by choice yet. Sometimes I'll be reading a book at home, and then the kids at work get assigned a book, so I have to read it with them. But that's as far as my multiple book reading goes. Lol

Well, it was working okay except I have no will power!

I had one for H and I (Monster Hunter International -- actually SO good It's a series and it's pretty cool so far!) and one for me (Twelve Tribes of Hattie). Really like them both, but last night, I put on the book for H and I, and he fell asleep but I was too wrapped up in it and didn't want to switch to the Twelve Tribes book (which I do like, too).

Maybe for us, we'll just go back to the usual... one at a time and H asking me what happened OR complaining when I have it "rewound" because I fell asleep first the night before

You guys!!! I don't know how you do? I can't read more then one at a time, I lose the characters and places, no, I'm not simple minded, just can't focus on more then one at a time. But, then again, I can do several things at once, like laundry, brush a horse, put in the dryer, brush another horse, start dinner, feed horses, eat dinner, love dogs! HAHAHA! Not to mention my grandchildren, I can do all my chores and still take their calls and tell them how much I love them. I may not be able to read two books at once, but I have other charms!

This is only the first time I've tried, and only because I can get in 2hrs of reading on days I go to the office, and H isn't there to hear it. The two books I tried (lightly) were so different that the characters aren't anything you'd get mixed up on... just like if you had a couple (or more!) TV series... I just was wanting to have "ONE" book for H and I where we were at the same point always on, but one of us falls asleep before the other, I usually want to listen to the 15 or so minutes past when I remember (let alone what H does if he was up later...). So, I'm thinking it's going to keep being one book (AUDIO) for us, too. We could keep track of two at a time, but it didn't turn out the past couple days the way I imagined it unfolding.

Books are so much better than TV, or at least most TV! I'm happy now H does also enjoy listening to the books with me. It's kind of my favorite part of the day, when we go to bed and fire up our book

It's so relaxing, a lot more than TV. You can close your eyes and just lose yourself in the story.

TWO books would really be ideal for us, but I swear........... that book that was for "us" just wouldn't let me stop around about the time I heard H snoring

(Anyone with extra will power, please drop me a line!)

I will read 2 books at a time, if one book that I'm interested in isn't one that I want to take to work. So I will take in one that doesn't make my co workers and bosses think that I'm weird. The book Eaters is a case in point. Not everyone would have thought that books was suitable so I read a "safe" amish family novel there.

Gosh, right now I am thinking about how we used to wrap our text books in paper grocery bags!

I haven't cared what anyone thought of what I was reading for way too long............. but had I ever tapped into that "Shades of Grey" wave, those I may have needed to wrap up in paper bags

I figure just about ANYTHING I'm going to read isn't any "worse" than Two Broke Girls (OMG, and it comes on at 9pm!) or Family Guy!

Lol, I read some books that have childish book covers and others that have somewhat racy covers. I tend to not read those in public too much. ;) Though the brown paperbag cover might work. Haha

I understand

Mine do sometimes (often probably), too, but no one really sees them. It just shows up as a cover on the face of my phone.

Thinking about what I said regarding The Family Guy, just to be clear (LOL!), I love that show! I just sometimes can't believe the things they say or imply on that one and my other favorite Sunday night cartoons. And Two Broke Girls! ... yeah, okay, I do watch but I am not sure how much I think that dark haired girl is funny and how much I think she's just really vulgar. Some of the lines she says are outrageously trashy.

(GOD, I guess I'm getting old -- I'll try not to get started on these kids today and their music!)

Lol, I love Two Broke Girls! Kat Dennings is an awesome actress.

Do you watch Whitney too? Both shows are created by Whitney Cummings. We actually like Whitney just a little bit more but thats because my husband appreciates the banter between sexes and I like her friends.

I don't know about Whitney. When does it come on and what channel? I like the Two Broke Girls show but I swear... it is SO racy! Funny as heck but I'm surprised they can say a lot of what they do on prime time network TV!

I should try the paper bag cover thing, I remember that from school. We used to have to put covers on our school books to keep them nice for the next year's class. I really enjoy the tv show Supernatural and would like to try the novels from that show, but I wouldn't take one into work. I would feel to "weird" at my age to be seen reading that stuff. lol

Jill, I think Whitney comes on NBC (it's the same channel Two Broke Girls is on - we DVR, so never pay attention to turning the channel there). It just had the season finale, so won't be back on for a couple months. I can't remember the night it's usually on because we always pre-record everything. Another great comedy is The New Girl. It's kind of dry humor but really good.

I'm really crazy right now, I'm listening to 3 audiobooks and reading 3 books. I have an audiobook in my car, one on my ipod I listen to in the barn and around the house, and one I listen to at night in bed. And now that I have a Kindle I usually have an ebook I'm reading on there, plus a "regular" book. I just happen to have two books going right now, so it's a rotation in what I'm reading when I'm not reading on my Kindle.
