Laurie, one of my vets just called to give me an update. Pepper is finally sleeping and resting comfortably. They did a complete blood work and scan and found that she has at the moment acute pancreatitis and they confirmed that she also has, as suspected before, porto-systemic shunt (liver shunt) by the tests they put her through for acid levels, etc. . She said that neurologically she is still not 100% back to normal and wants to keep her at least tonight perhaps tomorrow night as well. She said her "guarded" prognosis is that will correct itself. If this episode has affected her brain then we will have to make a decision of euthanasia.
So for now they are doing all they can to get her more stablelized. When I brought her in to the clinic her body temperature was below normal and they put some heated type pads on her to get her body temp back up. My poor baby  I do know she is in the best hands possible at this point and time will tell now where we go from here. If all does go well my dog is becoming a "vegetarian" on vet's orders. I am lucky that pepper likes vegetables and fruits!
