Video Transfer?

I have a few super 8 films of my big horses from back in the early 80's. I don't have a projector anymore, but I'd love to have these transferred to DVD. I know there isn't anyplace near me that does this, so I have to send them out. Has anyone done this? If so, can you recommend which place to send them too? There are alot of places advertized on the internet, I just don't want someone to ruin my films.
