Visiting the USA for the first time

Hi

We are planning a trip to LA and Las Vegas in August September this year. This will be our first trip to the USA and am so excited about it. What I am wanting to do is there a good place to go shopping for mini show gear in the city? Want a nice show jacket and some show halters. Also would just LOVE to visit a stud farm. Is there any within easy commuting in the area that would allow a mini breeder from New Zealand to visit? If you're there when the World Show is on, in Fort Worth, Tex, go! Great shopping and loads of horses to look at, an all round great experience!

There are mini shows at the LA Equestrian Center, but this year they are in April and June.

Thank you for that. What is the name of the world show that has Cat A and B's at it and where is that held? I think it is just before the AMHA World show, which may be just a bit late for us but am still working on it. I remember how much you enjoyed the show when you went Brigid

AMHR Nationals is in Tulsa, Oklahoma September 9-19th. Sounds like a wonderful trip you are going to have.

Maxine, all I can say about going to Las Vegas is "LEAVE YOUR MONEY HOME". When I lived there we called it "Lost Wages" also it is so hot there that you have to have A/C or you will die. I don't remember the month, but, we went something like 3 weeks without ever leaving the triple digits even for a night time low. But, it is a dry heat so I guess it kind of helps. I know there are a lot of Mini horse farms in the So. California area. You might luck out somewhere there. I know there are a couple of farms out around the vegas area but I didn't have horses when I lived there. I am something like 350 miles north of Vegas. Have fun on your trip but be careful if you gamble it can get out of hand real fast.

Thanks Katiean. no worries about spending too much gambling. It just doesn't do it for me or hubby, thank goodness. More worried about spending all my money on importing a mini colt

As far as the AMHA Nationals go, could someone please tell me what day they normally do the Supreme In Show on please? Can only drag hubby to one day, so might as well be THE day
