People who are fans of The Walking Dead TV series and / or zombie movies might like this book series but Mark Tufo called Zombie Fallout. It's really good!!! It's about a family struggling to survive the zombie Apocalypse. I'm on the 5th book now and recommend the series for fans of this genre

I'm listening to the audio version which is really well done. Harvey likes them, too

I AM a fan of "The Walking Dead", and am pretty upset that DISH, which I have stuck with it was first launched, has DROPPED AMC, which has several of the best original-production shows9incl."Walking Dead") on TV. I am thinking VERY seriously about switching to DIRECT TV(which is also offered as part of a 'bundle' of services from the 'local' phone company, used to be Qwest, now Century Link.) I think I can actually get a 'higher speed' internet, plus the satellite...also available is Verizon service...I already have Verizon for my 'basic' cell phone(the cheapest plan, not still available to 'start with'), and know they have good coverage. I HATE to have to go through all the hassle of 'change', but I also HATE being 'jerked around' by a pi88ing match between DISH and one of their 'suppliers'...phooey!!

Anyone have such a bundle; if so,how good is it? DIRECT TV? Same question; seems to me they are pretty much 'the same' as DISH, hardly any difference?

(Sorry to go somewhat OT of Jill's original post...but there is SOME relevancy?!)

I love Directv! We've had it forever and ever. I've never had DISH but I can't think of any channel I've heard of and even remotely wanted to watch that isn't carried by Directv.

I have Directv and have loved it, up until today. They announced that we are losing 26 channels tonight, including MTV (which has my favorite show right now, Teen Wolf), Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and some other popular channels. I'm tired of these places taking channels away and yet our bills don't reflect those losses. I live in an area where Time Warner isn't an option, so I am seriously considering other options since my DTV contract is up next month.

Well that stinks

We've never lost channels with Directv. I think about 6mos ago, there was an issue where they were not going to carry FOX News (?), but of course, they never stopped carrying it (phew!)

Seems like BOTH the satellite TV suppliers have no problem jerking around their paying customers; I just read about the DIRECT TV 'channels-drop'...>

Cable of any sort is not an option in my location, so my choices are ONLY DISH,DIRECT, or rabbit ears and ONLY the 'major' network channels; I watch as much if not more TV on the 'cable' channels, so that would NOT work! They ALL act like children, pointing fingers at each other, while WE are the ones who 'pay'. I still plan to check w/ Century Link re: 'bundled' services, IF I can get the 'true facts' from them on it...then we'll see, I guess.

Urgh... I sure feel like we pay more than enough for them to carry the channels we're used to. If they don't sort it out, I'll miss South Park for sure

...and of the large number of channels included that DIRECT dropped, I personally will only miss "Hot in Cleveland". But, I can imagine that losing ALL of Nickelodeon would be a hassle for those w/ children...not to mention a number of the other VIACOM channels, for LOTS of folks. Seems like they have practiced misleadning advertising when they summarily eliminate channels they advertised to offer...yet NO cost adjustment/compensation for their customers?? Perhaps a class action suit, against BOTH DISH and DIRECT TV, might be in order???Just sayin'......

I heard yesterday that if you call DTV and complain, they will reimburse you $5 monthly and give you free encore/starz channels for six months or until they get the 'issue' fixed. They keep saying that losing the channels are temporary until they work something out with Viacom but you'd think it wouldn't have taken so much time/effort if that was really going to happen. Who knows, maybe they are waiting for Viacom to realize how much money they are losing by not doing business together. Viacom might be doing that too, to see if DTV starts sweating because they're losing current and potential customers. :/

About 7 mos ago, I called DIrectv to cancel the movie channels. We weren't watching them then and our satellite bill is almost $150/month -- which is crazy IMO for TV. Well, they said they'd drop it by $40 for six months if I'd keep the movie channels so I said "okay". Got my first bill now that the six months is up and called them to cancel again yesterday and guess what? She said it looked like they had given me a discount to keep the movie channels but the six months was up. I said okay, and that I wanted to cancel them now unless she could give me another discount, which she did do! Guess I'll be calling again in 7 months to either cancel the movie channels or get a discount reinstatement... in case that helps anyone else with the movie channels package upgrades!
