I finally, finally convinced my computer to upload the second page of the ad I did for our eight horse hitch ... the first page, with the picture of the hitch and one of the trailer, as well as all the information, still refuses to cooperate, but I wanted to share the eight geldings currently in our hitch! They're all such great boys!

Since 1988 the Circle J Miniature Horse Hitch has travelled each summer to parades and events as the UFA Mini Horse Hitch. Travelling ten to twelve thousand kilometers per year, in the past 17 years they have attended 260 events from La Crete in the north to Coutts in the south and from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, hooking up for around 400 appearances. They are also the 1993 AMHA National Champion Multiple Hitch - Draft Harness.

And an old picture of the hitch:

Oh, and one more past and future hitch member ... one I'm a little biased towards! Of course, that might be a fair statement to make for every horse on the place!

Very cool!

I am so glad I've had the chance to meet your grandpa, grandma, and of course you, too! Say hello to Jack for me.

Kendra,

What neat boys!!! They are all black and beautiful!

Now, my question is: Do you have trouble telling them apart? I'm sure they all have their very own distinct personalities!!

Jack is such a snuggle bug ... there's him and Spook and Fred who haven't become full fledged hitch members yet, and then there's Donner and Dandy, who are retired from the hitch, and Henry, Iginla, Sonic and Jerome who have to grow up a little first. Plus Ebony, who's too small, and Tibbs and Raz, the two stallions who are making more black babies, and a couple black mares .... we do like our black horses!!

Now, my question is: Do you have trouble telling them apart? I'm sure they all have their very own distinct personalities!!

Well ... at this time of year we do have to look carefully to be sure! Some are easier ... you can tell Bunk by the way he looks at you, Gretz by his grey hair and Nova because he's actually brown, not black! But in the winter I sometimes have to find Knight Rider's scar or Paco's white hairs on his forehead! Right now everyone's been around for a while and you just know them, but add a new black horse and everything changes!

that is totally awesome............I have two black mares that are hard to tell apart..........but I had one branded before I got the other one so you can tell by that........but if they are facing anothe direction then it is hard.........but like you said you just know...........lol

Anyone that can accomplish something as wonderful as this has my respect for their great talent. The boys are all simply gorgeous in thier own right. Black's my favorite color too.

Wow, I was impressed with my getting four up and going. Thinking just about the logistics of what you do is impressive. No doubt its a labor of love. Nice looking bunch of animals and best of luck with them in the future.

I applaud your training ability and beautiful horses. Also the time you spend on the road as an advertisement to the breed.

To think I am stressing how to train two geldings as a team!

Neat Kendra and l have to add l still like the left swing best.

Oh my gosh, oh my golly! We wish we lived closer! Carl's dream would be a hitch.

Even to see that hitch! Heck we're just thrilled to now own two minis we can drive on our little road this year and yes we know e're tow old and I'm too crippled to ever have a hitch.

You're horses leave us awestruck! Congratulations on a beautiful collection of Black Beauties! Carl and Maxine

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Just to be clear, I don't drive eight! I can harness and hook them, clip them and clean up after them; I start many of them in single harness, and I've been known to drive two, but driving the eight is my Grandad's department!

If anyone really wants to see them, and isn't going to make it to any of the events in Alberta

:, I do have a short clip of them on my sale DVD (in the "Bonus Features"!), and it's no problem to send you a copy! The video I put on was in 1996 when they did demos at the AMHA Nationals in Ft. Worth.

Kendra, they are georgeous !!!

Black is my very favorite solid color.

Wow, that hitch is just awesome! I remember seeing them at Nationals, just so hard to believe it's been 10 years ago. Time does fly when you're having fun.

I loved seeing the individual pics showing their ages. And to think, someone said the other day that you quit showing horses at about 5. And I had to say "not so with geldings." I think I'll copy and send your pics to him.
