We clipped the filly this weekend ,and she looks to be a rose gray, not silver bay and she has the spots on her nose, around her eyes, around her butt and one (size quarter) on the inside of her back leg. No other spots noticed. I still cant believe these spots, there is NO Appy in her back ground, I know people said this can happen with the silver gene, but this is the 3rd time I cross this mare and stallion, and the other foals did not have these spots and the colt was gray also, filly silver bay . I guess these mini's ,sure like to mess with your mind, Here is Hawk Hollows Sheeza Show Steeler..JANE

Is she CHAMPAGNE???!!!!

They have that odd mottling, etc.... and she is kind of a strange color. Someone here more familiar with them might be able to tell you- and I know there is a website for them..

Ah, here it is- maybe this will help!

Oh Susan O. where are you? You have champagnes.....

Silvers of some varieties can show mottled skin but dont know that I've ever seen THAT much on one. WOW

P.S. You sure about the Appy? She has sclera too- which may or may not mean anything, LOL I looked at that champagne site and MANY of them have white sclera from the photos!

Sabino? We have a sabino mare that has mottling like your filly but has absolutely no appy in her background. jennifer :saludando:

I never tested her sire, so maybe I should do that test too..JANE

I have seen many silver dapples with mottled skin. And hope, no visible appy there! I would say then she is a silver of SOME sort- and they can have mottling. The foal just happens to have a lot, LOL
