Jazz was in foal to my BTU son for a May baby, I had planned on showing them both later in the year. I guess mother nature had other plans.
I came home from work on Tuesday and could tell Jazz was very off, uncomfortable.I stayed out with her the rest of the evening and she aborted her filly around 11 pm.
Vet came out, flushed Jazz and put her on antibiotics, she really didn't seem to care much about the foal. Vet does not believe the problem is with Jazz. The foal had the cord wrapped several times around her mid section. Her hind end was very underdeveloped, like it had been choked off.
Jazz seemed to be doing well until yesterday. Standing in a corner, would not even go to food. Her fever was 106. Got 4 asprin down her right away and something for her tummy. Vet came back out and we switched her antibiotics. Two hours later her fever was down and it has stayed down even through today. Maybe these meds are working better. She has ate and drank well most of the day.
So that leaves me with only one more, due first of April and watching her like a hawk.
What we do just never seems to be enough.
Just wasn't up to talking about it before, thanks.
