Sounds like the decision has already been made. In this case hope you do not live to far away from where the Mom is, first sign of trouble make sure you can get the foal back. ASAP these little guys can go down fast.

We let two colts last year go to a Doctor and helper that worked for a vet, at 3.5 months being they where going together, and had been together since they where two weeks old. They could have made it back here in about one hour if either of the foals where not doing well with the changes.

Good Luck ... Stress is the most factor with these little guys making changes so soon...

Something Reble posted just gave me a "brain fart"...........

Would it be possible to bring BOTH mom and foal home for a little while? Then, you could return the mare when the baby is weaned?
