There is a 2 year old Welsh Pony gelding for sale that basically just needs a new home. We are thinking of buying him, but I have no experience with this breed. Any advice or comments from those that do have experience? Any and all info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Great Breed

!!!! We have one that is 45!! He is a great horse. really good with kids. I would jump at a chance to buy a nice gelding again!!

Good Luck!!

The welsh are excellent riding ponies. Which section is this gelding.......A,B,C,D......I would guess it is section A or B.........they are typically long lived and quite healthy, they can be air ferns so keeping off excess weight can be challenging. They also excell in driving. AND they are PURTY

Well we have a half welsh stallion here now, he is about 49''. When we got him, he had not been handled for about 6 years and in just two months he has completely become a big lover. They really are beautiful horses, i love their heads.

He is half american shetland as well, the Taylors bred him

. I feel he has more the welsh look to him from his sire though. He just sold and will be on his way to California in a few weeks

. I believe they are going to hardship him into the sports pony registry or something other?

My favorite riding ponies were all right around 13 -13.3 they were owned by the farm I worked at for a number of years.

welsh X peruvian paso

welsh x quarter horse

hackney x peruvian paso

we also had several welsh shetland crosses for smaller riders...........they used to be a very popular cross for the young 4H kids and gaming families.

Of the 14 horses I have owned in my life, my Section D Welsh Cob was by far THE BEST "horse" I have ever and will probably ever own. Smart, loyal, versatile and beautiful. Also easy going, well mannered and did i say smart?

I think if you get one, you won't be sorry.

The Welsh Pony is an OUTSTANDING horse........ We have a Welsh mare and love her, but our knowledge is limited. From our own experience, with her and some previous mares we've owned, the Welsh pony is overall very kind, hard working, non-flighty. They are like the Shetland in that once you earn their trust, they are loyal to you forever.

Have you tried posting your questions on the "pony forum" ?
