Ive been out of town and then sick with a terrible flu. So ive just been reading the last couple days trying to catch up. ive noticed a lot of people lately grumbling about the forum being too mean or rude or whatever. I have also been on the receiving end of some not so nice comments but would i leave because of it? NO WAY!! I think we all forget from time to time all the good things that come out of this forum. Of course number one in my heart is CMHR. No way would we have been able to do that with this forum. or keep it going without this forum. What about all the foals saved because someone read on here what to do if you get a red bag? I still feel like we all pulled my tiny thru her surgery thru all those good thoughts and prayers. Im sure you guys can think of tons more. it goes on and on. The good GREATLY outweighs the bad for sure. And where would i be without the wonderful friends i have made from this forum?? Life with horses would not be nearly as much fun without my forum buddies

I do think some of us are going thru some winter blues and kinda looking at everything negatively.

: HERE HERE, I'll drink to that. ML, you put up with a lot of hhhmmmmmmm "stuff", sometimes.

And we do learn from adversity, at least I do.

I love this board! I have met some awesome people because of it and made many many friends. I have found great homes for both dogs and horses with LB people and have had wonderful conversations on the phone with Mary Lou and Carol and some others of you.... Where else would you find people who open their homes to you when you visit, share tack stalls with you when you attend shows in their area.... help you out at nationals....only here and only because MAry Lou started this for us years ago. I belong to some other boards but none is run as well or is as popluated as this one! Millions of thanks to Mary Lou, Mona, Carol, Lewella, and all the others who care for us here.

Kay Kay you are so right! Maybe the winter blues are making us grumpy as well as over-eating etc. But this is a great forum...and I want to thank you and Lyn for sharing your vast knowledge with me as well as others. Sharing our minis and mini related things with mini people is GREAT!! :aktion033:

:aktion033: I have said this before and I'll say it again Mary Lou and this board is the greatest. I have learned a lot about minis and horses in general from this site. Which just proves you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! :new_shocked: And I have also found out I sure didn't know all there was to know about horses before I found this place and so many knowledgable (is that a word?) people.

Maybe staying in this winter has caused some skin to get a little too thin?

I am one of those people that get affected alot by weather. If it stays cloudy days on end i have to really watch myself as I start getting really negative. hubby even teases me about it

but i am so excited my mare is now at day 293 and doing great!!! And spring is just around the corner

This is what I was writing it off as...

I love this place - I have learned SO much!! Even though I am just down to mini donkeys now I enjoy coming here and reading many many times a day
default_rolleyes.gif
: I post some but really like to learn about our animals and the personal things so many of you share and I offer prayers to those that ask (and not asked for too). I tend to just not look if it is a controversial post... ML you are awesome for keeping up with this place thank you! :aktion033:

Ah, cabin fever! The clouds don't effect me that way. It's having the honey home for MONTHS on end! LOL It was so nice to get away!

This is a great place (the forum). Very informative and great people too. There has been several times when I have been amazed at the kindness and selflessness of the people on this forum. I may not post much but I keep coming in to peek to see what is going on. I am always moved by one thing or another. And yes there is fighting that I see, but what family doesn't fight?

Without this forum, and the LB members that live near me, the pony in my avatar would be dead. Prayers, comfort, knowledge and community; all of those things far outweigh the occasional bickering. This too shall pass. 26 days until spring.

26 DAYS :aktion033: :aktion033: YEE HAWW!!!! THANKS KEEPER OF THE HORSES YOUVE JUST MADE MY DAY!!!! :bgrin 26 DAYS, :aktion033: 26 DAYS!!!!!!!! :bgrin

Ya know, Kay... :aktion033: Bless your sniffling little sickie fevered, achy head, (what is that nyquil commercial again?)... you're right.

I've been gone awhile, mostly feeling that the negetivity can be draining... and the negativity wasn't even directed at me. LOL... geesh, talk about sensitive, huh? LOL

I think I just needed someone to slap me upside the head and remind me of the millions of wonderful reasons to be here. If it weren't for all the help on here I can't think of what I would have done during that first foaling year when all my mares red-bagged. I could only save one of the foals, but at least I knew what was going on and was able to act to help the mares.

I think a lot of my problems had less to do with board negativity, although that was a 'comfortable' excuse, as it did with my all around depression over loosing Tiki last year. It really threw me into a funk that I was just starting to come out of just recently, and didn't even know I was 'in' until it started to clear away... if that makes any sense.

Anyway, Kay, thanks for the kick in the pants... and the great weekend. It was so wonderful seeing you, meeting Fran, and the other LB members at the Watseka event... and of course, bringing home my little bundle of sunshine, April (who's due in May, lol).

This forum has been pretty much my bible.

I love it with all my heart. It has:

Taught me to get through some hard times with my horses,

Taught me what to look for in a miniature,

Introduced me to many wonderful people who I haven't met but plan on meeting,

Helped me find my gorgeous little filly (thanks Lyn,
default_wub.png

Boosted my confidence and self esteem

Gave me the opportunity to start the LB Youth Club

Helped me meet my good friend and mentor, Jamie (Feather1414)

AND SO MUCH MORE!

Yaaaa KayKay!! You Rock again.

Because of this forum I can keep in touch with the local people that I show with in the summer who I might not see until next show season, so I know who has new horses and puppies and grandkids and such which is great. I have a place to go to get excited about my new patent show harness where my friends will get excited with me instead of greet me with blank stares, LOL I can come here whenever I am bored night or day and go on the main board and talk all about minis or head for the back porch to chat about anything. I can learn from other peoples experiences good and bad!! I have also met some really ,really good friends here and if I got nothing else here I am happy with that! Robin(Reo) is one of the most wonderful people that I have met on here and we are getting together at Nationals this year for some fun, I can't wait!!! I would not have met her without this place and that would make this world a sadder place, LOL and I also met a good friend who lives almost in my backyard, tifflunn here on the forum, who I have since roped into buying her first mini and who will come and throw a coffee and chocolate at me when I have pms! There are some many people here who I have come to admire and follow along with their posts and I come each day to see what's up with them today....Love this place, could love it more with a little more manners but I still love it!!

There have been a few derogatory posts lately - I do my best to stay out of them. I've learned so much here and wouldn't even think about leaving. I've met some wonderful people because of this forum too - Maxine (minx), Kim (whitney)...and am penpals with Leya (jacksthunder) - we "chat" almost daily. I can't wait to meat Leya and hope someday to even meet more people from the forum. I know if I have a problem, I can always come here and will have support from all the great people here.

Ok, I'll second that Kay, you do rock!

This forum saved my Missy as she "was" a redbag. After the first 3 seconds of panic everything I read flooded back and she is here today.

This forum helped my baby colt last year with a recipe for an enema to help him poo.

When my dad died this forum held me close and wiped my tears.

This forum has helped me make wonderful friendships both cyber and real.

This forum is a big part of my life.

Maxine, your post was very very profound. It touched me deeply.

Mary Lou you are the mother of this family and I, for one, thank you Mom.

This forum helped me choose my first Miniature Horses.

Despite the stigma locally about geldings, I made an educated decision to geld my colts because of this forum.

This forum helped me change the way I feed my Miniature Horses and now they are healthier and much happier.

I have learned a lot about showing.

I have learned about how useful Miniature Horses can be.

I learned how to say sorry to a close family friend.

I got support from the forum when my big horse Ferrah was sick.
