Carol:

How did you do that so it pasted on the actual thread instead of using a link??

Guess I am wrapping my brain around a computer as well today

When you post....there is a bar at the top of the page. Fonts, letters, etc. There is a small picture of a tree looking thingy. Click on that..........insert you link to a photo that is on a web page or photo storage. Be sure not to have 2 "http://"

So it would look like this without the spaces............if I did it without the spaces your picture would show up again. Not sure if I explained this well enough

and to you too, Alex for the kind post. She is a Boone's Little Andy daughter I just got from Ravenwood (Thanks Craig!!) and she is due in April so I am soooo excited. I was plugging in all my mares on the color calculator and didn't know for sure all of her patterns/genes so this will help get a idea of what to expect in a couple of months.

She is beautiful! I always say when in doubt always test for frame.

I just wanted to say she sure is a pretty mare! I love her wild markings. I think you made a good purchase there and I am a huge fan of Andy mares. They seem to make very good broodmares. The mare in my avatar is an Andy daughter too.

Thanks everyone!!! Muffntuf I got her from Ravenwood!!

So we are saying Tobiano with splash and sabino and test for frame? Is frame different than LWO? I know to test for LWO in pinto's but not sure what exactly frame means?

Yes Rachel I like the Andy daughters as well

FRAME is the pattern that carries the LWO gene. Your mare is beautiful....I love her head! It's always wise to test for LWO if you plan to breed her to ANY stallion with white markings. And if you plan to breed her to a stallion who IS LWO positive....then it's a MUST to test your mare for LWO as well!

All Frame patterned horses carry the LWO gene and will test positive for LWO. So, if a person wants to produce the beautiful Frame pattern, they need the gene in their breeding stock.

The Frame gene by itself may not be recognizably displayed, and it can be combined with any other pinto or white pattern gene. So, it can be difficult to discern whether a horse carries the gene without genetic testing.

Homozygous Frame = LWO Syndrome (always results in a foal that dies within 72 hours from bowel defects)

Heterozygous Frame = Frame (may or may not display the typical Frame pattern)
