When he is in a gallop does his tail come up high?
Yes! That was the one thing I forgot to mention... His tail is always high

Ah hah! Then I stand corrected, could very well be arab/quarter horse then. The build is what tells me that I don't think he is standardbred/quarter cross. His height also tells me it's one of the other breeds because standarbreds are usually 15.3 and taller. If he "flags" his tail then you may be very right - arab/quarter horse because Morgans don't have that trait. I know I am very biased when it comes to arabians, lol, my favorite breed, but the other trait they have is learning something very very quickly. You usually only have to show them something once and they get it. Sometimes they are just to smart for their own good. I had a quarter horse trainer start my arabian mare and he always told me he hated arabians. They were flighty and blah blah blah. After he started my mare he sheepishly came to me and asked if I would sell her to him. He said "I have never started a horse that was so smart, too smart sometimes". He now doesn't badmouth arabians, ROFL which is mega for this guy who always disliked them.

I know Morgans that flag their tails when they are ridden. My Apendix QH tail coes up hgh when he gallops also.

When I say "flag" I mean the doc of the tail is straight up. I have never seen a Morgan with the doc straight up like an arabian. I have seen high tail carraige in saddlebreds and hackney's but those are man made with the surgery done which I refused to do on my saddlebred! I can't stand that process and I say if the horse is not born with it, then it's not meant to be.
