I can eat most anything except catfish, and fresh water fish. Too fishy for me. Give me a good salt water fish and I love it. Sad to say that in this area, about the only fish they know and eat is catfish. A lot of Talipia too, and I can't stomach that either.

Considering that as a child I wouldn't eat anything but hot dogs and peanut butter sandwiches, I'm pretty open-minded as an adult. I only have a few barf-inducing foods, including:

brussels sprouts

cabbage

beets

and the all-time topper (plus I'm allergic to at least one ingredient)"

CURRY!!!!!!

Just the smell gives me a headache...I start feeling nauseous and feverous...bad news. The trouble is, in some cuisines that I otherwise love, they sometimes sneak it in foods...spring rolls, Thai and other southeast Asian foods...I dearly love Asian cuisine, but I have to make certain there is no curry.

In Hong Kong, the best deals can be found upstairs and to the back of the indoor markets...trouble is, that is where the Indian spice shops are, too. Being a die-hard bargain hunter, I would keep going up until the curry smell became so strong that even the greatest deal was no longer worthwhile...

Great post!! It's funny to read some of the dislikes, I can't imagine not eating some of them, lol.

When I was a kid I was made to eat what was in front of me even if I didn't like it. Most of the things I didn't like back then I like now except for one, PEAS, YUCKKK. I like pea pods and the peas in them but I can't eat and don't like the smell of plain peas.

I actually can't stand the throwing up smiley......... or any kind of talk of throwing up,etc also, spitting(that new cigarette commercial needs to have a warning on it. I didn't know what that was about until I saw the kids spitting).... Ok moving on... I'm gagging already.

Can't stand cigarette smoke!

I'm a seafood lover, but I saw whole shrimp for the first time at the beach a year ago at a restaurant on a stick... nasty and I have to not think about it or I can't eat shrimp that are already cooked. Can't eat Lobster anymore after seeing them in a tank..... Can't eat meat if I think about where it comes from. I just have to not think about it.

Can't stand liver...

My husband cooks a cajun catfish that is out of this world. Doesn't taste fishy at all and is actually requested by family members who don't eat fish. I also, don't like fishy tasting seafood.

I'm with you Laura. Also, I can't stand loud people who also, curse every other word. I was in the dr's(OB) office the other day and this girl was in there with her husband and her sister in law(she told everybody her business). Every word out of his mouth was a curse word and loud and then she started being loud. He also, reeked of cigarette smoke. As soon as he walked in I knew I was in trouble. I start getting really sick to my stomach. Then they both went out to smoke. Thank goodness they called me back to see the dr. as they were walking out. I couldn't take all three of them reeking of smoke.

I can not stand seafood. I can't eat half of it anyway since I am allergic to shellfish, and the other half is so unappetizing (I don't like fish, and I am not looking into eating octupus or squid anytime soon! :new_shocked: )

And ribs also.. I don't know why, but I do not like them!

And of course no "body parts" or insects! EWW!

:smileypuke:

Vegetables. If it's a veggie, gag!! Except for garlic, if that is considered a veggie?

I can eat almost anything (well...except gluten). But I did have sea cucumber at a Chinese restaurant a couple of years ago and was so grossed out. For those of you that don't know what a sea cucumber is look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_cucumber

Yuuuuck!!!!!!!!!! It tasted like oily hard jello!

I'm usually pretty good with most foods, except.. fried eggs, soft boiled eggs, (actually, any egg that is just in its natural format...
default_rolleyes.gif
: ) milk.. (as in a glass full, just can't do it... ) escargo, cavier, any body part of an animal...

: and those old "California Coolers" winecoolers.. I got SO SICK on those that I cannot even stand the smell of them when the top is off.. ( I don't think that they make them anymore, though... :aktion033: )

Also totally in line with Laura on what she said about that parent.. (and I use that term loosely...) and her poor little daughter. But, will also add that I cannot stand the parents who turn their kids loose in a store, restaurant ( or any public venue, for that matter..

: ) and not watch them. I have been run over by shopping carts that are left in the hands of small children running amuck, almost knocked over by kids running helter-skelter through a store and been forced to listen to screaming children AND parents over and over and OVER again, one such case leading me to leave a restaurant a couple of days ago because the screaming child was SO annoying that we could not enjoy our meal.. (and it was all because the child wanted dessert and didn't get what he wanted...

Interesting to see what other peoples dislikes are....

...people who hit, scream at or just ignore their babies. I had to leave a Sears photo studio a few months ago because a woman was slapping the crap out the hand of a 15 month old baby, over and over, because the baby tried to walk out, then cried when her Mom yanked her back, then slammed her into a chair and yelled at her. When she smacked the baby, the baby smacked back (duh) and then she started just hitting her poor little hand HARD, over and over. I stood up, told Mia (loudly) I couldn't stay somewhere where someone was hitting a BABY and we walked out. It made me feel sick to my stomach   How can people not understand that babies are BABIES and are precious, not possessions?????

Laura,

I totally agree. When my daughter was in the hospital at 18 months enduring cancer treatments, I was really bad around anyone that would yank their childs arm, or anything like that, or yell or be mean in anyway........I mean here I am fighting like heck to hold on to my child's life and they are taking theirs for granted. I found myself lashing out at them, and normally would have bit my tongue. I noticed every little thing, a face not being washed, hair not combed....slapping hands. Now I do believe in discipline, but not that way on a young child. I bet some mothers didn't know what to think of me when I lashed out. But they needed to realize how LUCKY they are to have their children, and to have a healthy child.

As for food..............boy alot of you would never make it on FEAR FACTOR!

The one thing that comes to my mind is LIVER..........EWWWW I mean I can eat it, but when I was a kid the smell of it cooking made me sick, and mom used to make us eat a little of it but it would make me want to puke just smelling it!!!

OK, here's a terribly petty gripe -- sgrocery store clerks and shelf stockers who constantly ask "are you finding everything okay?"

I like to shop late at night so I won't have to deal with people, but their bosses obviously have them on strict orders to constantly smile and be as obnoxious as possible...

I hate telemarketers, but I LOVE toying with them. With the ones I've asked not to call, I very nicely ask their names and that of their supervisors "SO THAT I CAN GIVE THIS TO MY ATTORNEY -- OREGON HAS VERY STRICT TELEMARKETING LAWS, YOU KNOW."

It's mean, I know, and they're just doing their job, but the devil makes me do it...

Popcorn popping in the microwave! I love to eat it once it's done, but can't stand it when it's popping. And if someone manages to burn it . . .not a pretty pcture

Funny stuff, but not really funny when you're 'enduring' it....some of what you have mentioned is a favorite of mine, and years ago 'milk toast' was the comfort food for my significant other....whenever there was stress, or a cold, etc., soft boil an egg onto toast with milk poured over it...the cure all for anything! Escargot is a favorite, as is cavier for my youngest (she was 2 years old scarffing cavier and some Crystal when we weren't looking')...Puilly Fusse wine for my significant other's kids (or was it just fun to say?)....

I haven't tried but don't think I'd like 'head cheese'....I love raw oysters, Japanese food (sushi), but hate cooked oysters....go figure....

What does it mean when a horse loves salami and root beer? Yep, I had one (an appy that didn't color out) that loved both and would do just about anything for a bite!

I can't stand liars....otherwise, I'm good to go....

Hugs!
