I have been "tampering" with candle making (chandellor) for years trying to get the perfect candle. Alas, I have blown up the kitchen yet again and this time it's wax on the ceiling. Scraped it off before anyone noticed but there's a pink thingy on it now but trust me, no one will look up.

I used to make a lot of stuff but don't have any time anymore and really nothing I ever tried my hand out came out good. I have simply no talent for this stuff.

So what's your specialty?

l took up wood carving last year and use pieces of junk 2x6's out in the wood pile and am waiting till the snow flys so l can try again for that perfect book the ones l did last year suck. See

Hi Marty, I've started to do machine embroidery, horses mostly of course, there is a limited amount mini designs out there. Hoping to sell at local shows for a little extra horse money. And of course lots of christmas gifts!!!! Kathy

I make Parade Plumes and many matching accessories for horses of all breeds/sizes/colors. I also make matching T's for the driver/handlers to match their horses.

Additionally, I've dabbled in machine embroidery as well. Still getting there...

It's been a bear of a year so haven't been able to be as diligent with it all as I wish to have been.

But, thankfully we're slowly wading our way through all the pools of life's distractions, and prayerfully in another week or two, I'll be able to unpack all my stuff and pick right back up where I left off.

So thankful too, that I already have a couple customers waiting for me to get my ducks back in a row for some Christmas Parade costumes, etc. (PTL!)

I will also be updating my website of all my work soon too.

So that I can give a much more professional presentation of my work, and can also soon show the much wider variety and quality of my latest works that I've not even been able to showcase yet.

I can hardly wait to get back to work!!!

At both my FUN job of "Funning it up with Horsey Clothes"...and my "real" job, where I get a paycheck, LOL. I've been laid up for wayyyy too long now from everything...it's 'bout time to get BACK IN THE CART and get crackin' again!!!

Here's some of my "old" handworks....

This one below, is one of my favorites (Viva Las Vegas Collection)...I also make them now with large billowing Black Ostrich Plumes that tower over the peacock eyes.

I also make this in a sparkling "CHAMPAGNE PEACOCK" version...with ALL the matching accessories!

Just stunning...I think.

Here's a couple older samples of minor embroidery/monogramming work that I can do too. But, I hope to keep practicing with my machine because it scans photographs and can embroidery those images as well. I just have to learn how to get it to do that still.

All in due time, I guess.

I do a little quilting, mostly baby quilts and lap quilts and I've made a couple of tablerunners (my MIL loves hers). I do some scrapbooking, but I'm all caught up, so not much else to do there.

Most of the handwork I've done lately is crochet. I've made several afghans for family and friends as wedding or Christmas presents and just started a new one for my brother who's getting married in February.

I started early on painting custom Breyer horses for friends. I am probably going to be doing a lot of glass etching (of pets images and such) for gifts this year. I have a set of new etching bits for my dremel and am really enjoying it. I etched a cookie jar for my mom with an image of their two poodles and filled it with puppy treats for her birthday present and was thinking things like that would make great gifts for pet owners. Of course I am so busy painting model horses these days I am not sure I will even get to anything else.

I would never think of heating up wax on the stove! LOL!!

ML I am a doofus but not a complete doo doo..
wacko.gif
..I don't do it on the stove. I use a thingy for the candle melting, like a crock pot type thingy sorta that plugs in. Forget what it's called, begins with "S" ......I goofed up when I was messing in the jars with my melting pool and wicks big time. I had too many lined up that's why.

KayKay- your bird house and gourd are beautiful. SWA- your oufits are quite impressive.

I paint stools and boxes for Christmas gifts. I used to sell them but I don't have the energy to do custom work anymore so I just paint whatever I like and give them as gifts.

These are stools-

and this is a box-

and I used to do a lot of stall signs but people don't like the wood anymore-

Well Last year for Christmas I gave out candle holders that I decorated. I used glitter (The finer the better, It sticks better) & some double sided clear sticky paper. I just cut out shapes in the sticky paper & stuck it on the candle holders. Then sprinkeled some glitter on & its all done! I bought the candle holders at Wal-Mart. You can get some nice ones for under a dollar. I used clear glass ones. I stuck a candle in 'em & wrapped them in a few sheets of tissue paper. Here is a picture of one I gave to my sister. I also gave her one with snowmen on it.

I've been busy doing personalized wood plaques, stall signs, farm signs, trinket boxes, etc. Here are just a few examples. I do these as they are fun to do and the little bit of extra money is also nice.

If you are interested, drop me a PM and I'll get started right away on your design(s). Of course, they do not have to be horse related. They can be made from any picture. Wording can also be added.

I haven't done much crafting in years, but back when I had just one little boy to look after and a hubby who was on the ocean all the time, just one full sized horse....

I made angels and Santa Clauses out of Fimo clay, and also took porcelain molded heads and then added clothes and bodies, wings and things to make tree toppers or decorations.

I also made ornaments, painted or otherwise, and did a LOT of beading, made dream catchers, painted leather shields, painted and sculpted model horses, made tack for them...and any number of projects I could get my hands on! I always felt there was not much I could not tackle if I could see how it was made.

I will get photos of some of the projects I still have. I gave many of the things that I made to the people I loved.

I've enjoyed seeing everything posted. There are some talented people, here!

I quilt! I love it. I also make stained glass items but prefer to design my own patterns for items, usually lamp shades. I also make greeting cards. (Anyone want to clean my house for me!!! LOL)

I like to quilt. Nothing is done by hand, except perhaps the labels...all machine!

I tried my hand with woodworking and made a feeder (see post on forum). My husband left for work the morning I began and had to show me that the drill wouldn't work because it was in REVERSE! No wonder that baby was smokin!

Truth be told, I make some off the wall quilts and have my friend with a $75,000 computerized quilting machine sew the top/batting/backing together. She loves to do my quilts because I can't read a pattern and mental illness lends itself to creativity. In 2000, this forum member was a featured quilt artist at the International Quilt Market with the product and copywrited patterns I published.

Here's one of my latest doozies....my autistic son loves it and wants it hung in our western themed living room. Hey, it's his world.....I just live in it!

My mom and a friend had a small seamstress shop when I was very little, and my dad is in textiles, so I grew up amid tons of crafty stuff.

I learned to knit and crochet when I was 5 or 6. I also do needlepoint and xstitch. My plain sewing is respectable but no where near my mom's. She once made an evening gown for an industry function and no one was any the wiser!

My current knitting project is a purse (which doesn't look like anything now), and this lace wrap from Fiddlesticks. I'm making it out of a custom-dyed merino. Wraps are great here in Texas- just enough to chase away the chill.

This is the colorway.....so pretty!
