Oh! That is so scary to see. I am SO relieved that he's alright. Cars do come and go pretty darn easily, but you could never replace that precious man's health, and life. Give him a hug and just wait for the insurance guy to come and get you some money for a new car.
On the airbag thing, this is our truck three years ago after my husband rolled and flipped it 6 times:
None of the airbags deployed. We were really concerned and upset about that (husband was not hurt except seatbelt rash and a slight head wound from bumping his head somewhere in the truck), but our tow driver friend tells us that most often when it doesn't go, it's not a true malfunction, it's the way they are designed to work, supposed to "know" the way the truck is shifting, and whether or not to go. This was confirmed by Ford representatives and the insurance adjusters. When he first left the road, the truck rolled to the left (driver's side), and then flipped end over end, rolling again side to side four more times and another flip at the end. If it had gone level and straight over, the airbags MIGHT have gone off had the truck suffered more of an intrusion into the cab right away.
This was a seven month old truck (F250), and had left the road at 95 mph. Sometimes we get so lucky.
I am so glad that Kenny was ok. I know how I would be if it had been MY Kenny, who is 17 and drives as well.
*hugs* for both of you.
