My husband and I were discussing this today but couldn't come up with an answer. The girl who takes care of Daisy is phenomenal. She goes above and beyond in all matters of care and feeding and she actually asked me today if I'd like Daisy to have a noon feeding as well as her am and pm ones so she doesn't have to go so long between meals.

: I can tell Daisy loves her too.

She works her tail off cleaning 14 stalls twice a day, feeding and being an all around helper. She makes board and feed for her horse and a small stipend from the stable. Poor kid drives a car you wouldn't believe still runs. I think it's held together with a wish and a prayer most days and she's going to school to be a vet tech and waits tables to make ends meet. She's a very kind and totally horse focused young lady and we'd like to show her we appreciate all she does.

Does or has anyone tipped barn staff on a regular basis recently and if so, what do you think would be appropriate in this case?

I have worked at many stables and I have never gotten tipped. My daughter got a book from one lady and her horse, but I never have gotten anything. I think it's thoughtful that you want to tip this girl. Maybe get her something she neeed for her horse (if she has one), a book on horses, or horse relates things.

That is real nice of you. Very thoughtful.

I'm sure she would not mind being slipped a $5.00 bill every now and then or a $10.00.

A Big Mac would also go a long way too I'm sure.

It's so nice of you to think of doing this for her! When I ran a private families stable they always did a little extra for me around the holidays, they were also a beef farm/ veal broker and they gave us hams and gifts, but they were more personal gifts as we were like family.

I bet a gas card would be really appreciated, it would free up a bit of cash for other things for her. I'm not real big on other types of gift cards as you never know where people want to shop. (I was given Home Depot and Target cards for Christmas and we don't even have any nearby so I sell them on ebay

That would be a wonderful gesture. Sounds like she works really hard for you and loves it too

: How about a "Gas Gift Card" You know with prices so high a lot of her cash goes into her tank.

When Glacia worked on a horse farm 16 hrs day she rarely got money tips, afew sure $10 here and there for getting a horse ready to leave and looking gorgeous, one time she got $50 for drive training a filly in 10 days. He favorite tips were: someone who had bought a horse and remembered her would be driving by and stop to give her lunch, McDonalds, a sub with soda, you know. One time it was small cheese pizza. Most times she didn't take the time to eat cause there was so much work to do so these nice things she appreciated as she would take the time to eat and chat a sec. Oh, one time someone got her a soft black pair of leather gloves to work in, she adored them. You're lucky she is a good one. Hope this helped.

Oh I like thegas card idea, course I had to drive Glacia the first 2 yrs and she paid me $5/day to do it.
