I had mine done for $75 a peice last year. We moved. So I'm not sure what it'll be at the vet up here. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be that cheap. Which, I don't know why vets charge so much. They lay them down and cut the testicles out that are just hanging there. Not a complicated procedure at all.

Central Kentucky here... i just had one done the beginning of December and it was $90 + $60 farm call so $160 total. after coming from Maine last fall i thought that was CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP..lol It was actually my friends horse (Enchantress) and she dropped him off here after one of her fall trips to pick up horses. Figured it was far cheaper to do it down here. it wasl ike $400 where we lived in maine not including farm call!

Here in Central Maine I was just quoted $350 plus $90 farm call.

Quess they use gold plated surgical instruments up here. : )

lol cathy that was my thoughts too! heck if i had the anestesia i'd do it myself! lol vet laughed at me when i told him that and then showed me how to do it! LOL

Since I am trying to cut back on horses yet none are selling I am probably going to geld my stallion this spring. At least then he can run with the herd.
So what are prices in your area running?

$100 in Southern Colorado

Must be something about the East Coast vets - - our farm call is $85 and the gelding price is $325 here in Southern Maryland - whether at your farm or their clinic - no break in cost for taking them to the clinic (obvisously you save the farm call fee but no break in the procedure costs). I inquired but haven't done it yet.

I'm told some of our local Amish do it - - but I haven't checked yet - I'm alittle hestitant with that option.

Just had one done (December) and the total was $165

That included wolf teeth.

No farm call, we take them in to the clinic.

It took me awhile to find out from my vet how much it would cost, because we haven't had to geld anything here yet. Just got an estimate of between $400 and $500. I thought things were pricey around here (Connecticut), and I guess that just confirms it.

Wow! I can't imagine spending as much as some of you have to! I have a horse I'm gelding and got prices from my current vet and was quoted at $110 for gelding + $35 for the farm call and then was informed that they are cutting back on their horse work and asked me to find someone else! I called another vet I'm used to and got quoted $150 for gelding and $45 for the farm call. I thought that was bad having to spend $200! I can't imagine having to spend $300-$500!!!!!

Last ones I had gelded were about $75, a couple of years ago. I'm about to find out what it's running here now.

My vet is a big proponent of gelding and I think she tries to keep it very reasonable. Farm call is up to $70, have to factor that in but I can usually find something else for them to look at while they are here.
