Ok first off let me explain what I do at this time. And these three are all full size animals not mini's

I feed and water dailey that includes weekends. all but maybe two weeks out of a year. I brush, check over the horse and two burros for discomfort, injuries, etc.

I put on fly masks, spray and apply fly ointment as needed.

Clean poop twice daily after feeding,

keep an eye on them during the day and get up at night with them if they are hollering for any reason.

I am here for the vet, and the ferrier.

These guys are all over 25 years old and the horse has some arthritis which if you dont watch, he gets very destressed with.

I tell the owner when we need feed, when shots are due and reccommend when they need to be wormed. Although she only worms once a year.

And I clean out the barn, the mess from the hay bales.

I also repair the sprinkers, broken water pipes and what ever I can as needed.

So my question is what would this help be worth to you? I am curious

I'm confused. Do you own the land and are you boarding these critters, paying for their feed, etc. or are you a live-in caretaker? A boarder would pay per horse whereas if you're a live-in caretaker on their land then part of the deal would be your housing plus whatever they pay you on the side.

Re-reading your post again, it sounds like you board these horses at your place. In that case, your To Do List sounds like pretty basic "full board" to me. The cost will vary depending upon your location and amenities but I've seen prices from around $200. on up to $600. or so, per horse, per month. Some barns will charge extra for services such as standing with the horse for the farrier or vet, adding special supplements to a horse's diet, etc. Personally, I would never pay for full board for three senior horses as I would prefer to let them enjoy their retirement in nice a pasture board environment.

No I dont board them. I live on the property and pay rent. I have my two horses that are here in an unused pasture area and I pay for all of their care and feed. There is no boarding charge

The owner, land, horse and burros, does nothing with the three of them.

I read on here of mini owners loorking for help with their animals. So I was curious?

Wow. Well, if I were you I would try to alter the situation or find another place because in my opinion you're really getting the short end of the stick. I think if you are the caretaker of the property and the owner's horses it'd be fair to exchange your labor for rent AND free pasture board for your two Minis. There's no way I would pay rent, take care of the property PLUS the owner's horses in exchange for pasture board for two Minis...

Well since you are renting, technically the land is not yours and your landlord can dictate wether or not they want your horses on it. It sucks, but true. If you like having your horses there with you, I would continue to care for his horses also, just as to keep your situation with your horses good. Yes, you are getting the short end of the stick, but like I said, if you create waves, your landlord may turn around and say - you can't keep your horses here - which he has every right.

Is there a signed contract saying you have to care for the property owner's horses as a part of your rental agreement? If there is, does the contract say anything about you being able to keep your Minis on the property without paying board? If your contract says that you can keep your Minis on the property as a part of the rental agreement but doesn't specify about taking care of the big horses I would not hesitate to discuss the matter with the landlord but then, I'm not one who'll just take the short end of the stick and shut up about it.

Do you at least get a "reduced" rent? Do your landlords pay for your utilities? I have a friend who rents out an apartment and her renter cares for the horses and barn 6 days a week but pays a way reduced rent and no utilities. My friend takes care of the horses and barn on Sundays. The renter does not have horses or animals of his own but is an experienced horseman.

I had a student that helped around the place. He got Ten dollars an hour for all the hours he was here. There were other perks as well but he worked depending on his schedule and my needs. It was a good deal for him as well as me. He cared for them the same as I did and they got lots of attention weather I was here or not.

: :saludando: Depends on a lot of things. I've done simular things fir my own pleasure. Use to get up at 4a.m. to do all the chores at a trotting track just for the love of it. I know that the stable boys laughed at my expense but I truley loved it.
