I got several requests to see my girl clipped down so they could tell me what pattern my new girl Kiko is....so appaloosa experts.....here ya go!

I just loved finding all her spots even though she hated getting clipped! Lol

Since she is a mare and black based (both appaloosa "color" restrictors), I would think she's a near few spot instead of a snowcap. Pretty!

I have been told mine is a varnished roan appaloosa. See avatar picture.

She is certainly a near-fewspot -- so a 100% homozygous appaloosa producer! Breed her to anything and get an appaloosa foal every time! Congratulations! An appaloosa breeders dream horse.

How awesome is that! Turns out I found a diamond in the rough as some would say! She's beautiful either way, I just love her to death. I am going to see if I can get her AMHA hardshipped, hopefully her teeth will show she is old enough so I can get her AMHA and then I will hardship her in AMHR as well.....I do plan on going ahead and getting her ISHR registered so we can at least show with that registry. As of right now I don't have any plans to breed her - she's simply my fun horse!

At least it is neat to know exactly what she is now, and that she is homozygous! If I can get her AMHA hardshipped and later AMHR, then I will think about breeding to a high quality outside appy stud for a foal to keep for myself but she definitely won't become a broodmare. This girl is SMART and I plan on having a lot of fun with her even if it is just open shows!

Yes I agree... she is homozygous by appearance. This is what some call a 'fewcap'- too much white for a 'snowcap' and not enough white for a 'fewspot', lol I think that term describes the pattern pretty well for an 'in between' pattern. Congrats on your new girl.
