Hi just wondering i have a 18 year old stallion. He is 29 inchs. I breed two mares to him last year. They are due any time now. I hope to breed two mares again. I breed in hand so he does not run with the mares or the same guy would cover all day long. He is in great health. What age can a stallion breed up to. Also should i be giving him extra feed at breeding season.

stallions will breed until the day they die

I give mine extra feed , if I dont he will drop weight

Same here! Just keep good watch on his weight, and he'll do fine for several more years!

YOU'LL know he's done when the mares don't conceive....but even then HE won't know he's done! LOL

Even if they are shooting blanks, they keep on trying! I've known stllions to breed mares till age 30, not to worry at 18.
