We had an oops litter here..(Chihuahuas) took all 3 boys to get fixed- 2 came home very sleepy and sore #3 came out of the crate and ummmmm had a little visit with one of our females. I had been so careful to keep them apart prior to the appt and it was the last thing I expected while they were still sleepy but.. we had a oops litter and this is Romeo the one we are keeping everyone else found new homes pretty quick . It is always so sad to get rid of puppies that you spend so much time with from the second they are born but it is always nice when you get to hear the new families rave about them!
Romeo needed a bit of extra help when he was born thank goodness Jennifer (Sweet Opal) was on the other end of the phone and told how to breath gently into his nose to help expand his lung that did the trick and now he is not only healthy but pretty darn cute as well (at least I think so) he is palomino with a big blaze , 4 whites and a white tip on his tail. He was the biggest of the litter I think he will be around 6 lbs.
You can see one of his sisters in the background and the other sister right behind him (looking headless) We took this last week before the girls left for there new homes
Oh wanted to add... we have a communal dog raising thing going on here and all the other dogs take part in raising the pups pretty much from day 3 or 4 - so when mom needed a break she would leave and someone else would step in and stay with them.
Well now we have one who when they were about 4 weeks old or so a dog who never had pups actually got milk and started nursing them. Now of course the Mom is dried up but not the nurse mom.. so Romeo has all the milk to himself for a little while.
IT always seem so strange to my friends who breed dogs that the moms are so willing to share the responsibilities of raising pups guess I have a true pack thing going on here but the the nurse mom sure shocked me
