Don't get me wrong -- I love spring and summer...it's simply the time change that I think is patently ridiculous! .
I love the longer days, the angle of light, and everything else that comes with it. I celebrate the winter solstice, when the days begin getting longer instead of shorter, and I look forward each year to the spring equinox, when we have as much daylight as night. Instead of daylight savings, I rejoice at the sight of the new spring blossoms, the green grass, the buds on the trees and shrubs, bulbs emerging like little, green missiles, and, of course, the annual shedding of the horses.
Of course, summer in Oregon doesn't really come until July 5, but we'll have those poignant warm days that fool us into thinking summer has arrived early for a change...and at the very least, we can enjoy the warm, friendly showers that come in place of winter's never-ending, bone-chilling rain.
